Holy snap, it ends at 10:00 PM on Friday for me! Glad I checked that. I'll make sure I upload my entry tomorrow afternoon then.
Yes! Sat 1am
Still not shure if ill get it finished... Anyways - the movie wont turn out how it was supposed to be
I'm out of the contest I've been grounded from editing my film for the whole day.
Sorry to hear that, Duke Boy. I am doing my film last-minute. Fortunately, my parents gave me the entire day off to do it, so I've got 12 straight hours of brickfilming to finish my entry.
Bah! I had a great idea for a scary film that I'm working on right now... no way I'm going to get it done over night though
Of the handful of entries I've watched so far, some are very nicely made from a technical or creative standpoint but I'm disappointed that people have mostly, in my mind, failed to make something frightening. The contest guidelines said to make a frightening, scary atmosphere, and instead we're getting jokes and humorous short films about Halloween, it looks to me like most people are not even trying to make their films genuinely scary.
Just an observation, there have been a few exceptions.
I Tried But I think I failed as I made the clip in four hours
Here is my submission: http://www.bricksinmotion.com/forums/post/91185/#p91185
^^^^^^
WATCH IT, WATCH IT FAST, IT's AWESOME.
Here's mine. I just finished also. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf7cLSIjznI
Sorry. Well, you tried. Hey, everyone! I am new to this place, but I'm on YouTube! Just type in Onyxanimations and you should find my videos. Hope you like them!
I thought your entry was great BG! [/positive encouragement]
Theirs always a next time!

You have a point. I watched my entry through some more and in hindsight mine probably fits your comments. I think there is a place for humour in scary movies, nightmare on elm street, evil dead and Peter Jackson's Brain Dead (which coined the phrase splat-stick).
I watched a few scary films while building my set (which took several weeks) and the common element was suspense. Even when I play computer games, it's when there's nothing around that it gets scary. When the room has zombies or whatever you have a focus. But when there''s nothing around you know something will happen but not what, where or when.
That's the type of scare I was going for. I have trouble with brickfilms being a serious format, the mini-figs are just too cute.
So I spent a lot of the duration of my film making the ride seem scary, without showing why.
In the end however, my failing was there was nothing to scare the audience, it built up the suspense but then nothing. The fright was only for the main character.
So I have stopped mowing the lawn today and I'm going to spend the next few hours making an alternative ending.

The Desktop - HALLOWEEN
And before any of you say that it isn't frightening, I don't agree. IT'S SUPER SCARY!
But seriously, that's my entry.
NXTManiac
I finally got to the point to put the scenes together, but Premiere crashes over and over again and Im absolutely not happy with many parts of the video
I might finish it one day... So much work for pretty much nothing
But well - my fault
Good luck to all of the entries!
