Topic: I need A good Video Editor.

Hello, Can you please help me I am looking for a GOOD FREE editing software like for adding audio and transitions and titles and credits and effects like speding up and down NOT Wmm and I want a full version not a trial version.

Re: I need A good Video Editor.

I'm sorry to say that WMM is the only really good editer for windows.
You can't get much for free, people don't want to give away something they've worked hard on for free.
I've checked out lots of free editers and i didn't like any of them, Windows Movie Maker is a good free editer that you don't have to download. So if you don't want to buy an editer, then just stick with it.

Don't be fooled, my avatar is a facade of conformity.

Sorry, let me re-phrase that:
I tried them out and they are not as good as WMM.

People who ask question are starting to get on my nerves. You get what you pay for. Either shell out the money or make due with a less desirable substitute. If you don't like the editors listed in the free software list, then save up $60 for the entry level Pinnacle or Vegas. That's all there is to it.

Unless, of course, you want someone to tell you how to download software illegally... which will get both of you banned.

Filmreason wasn't banned, and he talked about it, and was even proud of it mini/rolleyes

People who can't follow a fairly straightforward thread get on my nerves. Swag4567 asked about software, Duke Boy came along and talked a lot of nonsense. Nobody was talking about pirating software until you mentioned it.

For what it's worth, VirtualDub was the best free editing software available a few years ago. There may be better options now but I don't know of any. WMM always used to be rubbish. I can't imagine it's got any better recently.

*blushes* Thanks. I needed that. This isn't an excuse, but my dad writes software for a living, so perhaps that's where my oversensitivity about piracy comes from. I see "Hey i want good software but i dont want to pay" and instantly assume the worst. My apologies for directing this thread somewhere it never should have gone.

Back on topic, WMM works fine (well... sort of) for the purpose it's designed for: cutting together home movies into appealing-looking presentations without a whole lot of work. For people who just want to take existing footage, maybe drop some music in the background, add some transitions and titles, and be done with it, it's perfect. But for filmmakers... especially brickfilmers, whose raw video doesn't have sound... its limited options leave it all but useless.

I haven't used it, so I have no idea if it's any good, but the screenshots for ZS4, linked to in the Free Software List, seem to indicate a competent editor whose GUI closely resembles that of higher-end editors like Final Cut and Premiere. It might be worth looking into, at the very least.

mini/frustrated   Okay, I admit it, I was talking nonsense. I shouldn't have gotten involved in a subject I don't know much about.

Call me an idiot but I don't know how to work VirtualDub mini/confused  and I like WMM more.

I just hope I haven't been thrown back into noobie-land mini/shifty

Hey, I use wmm too.  It works fine, and I don't see whats wrong with it.  Stop motion animation is a fairly simple process, so you really shouldn't need an expensive editor unless you want special effects like explosions and lasers.  And I use audacity for audio editing.  It all works great.

What are you guys on?

Re: I need A good Video Editor.

I know Pinnacle had a free video editor, but you had to deal with ads and buy certain codecs after a certain amount of time.
