PC. mini/smile

Re: Pc or Mac

Why PC?:)

Re: Pc or Mac

Well if you use the same software it makes no difference.
Mac is easy to use but windows is (what i think) way better.

Re: Pc or Mac

I used a mac for the first time last week and I didn't like it. But that was because i'm not used to it. So I'm going to go with PC just because of familiarity.

Re: Pc or Mac

Mac all the way! mini/XD

40% of people causing car accidents are caused by drunk driving. Drive drunk, it's safer.

Re: Pc or Mac

Your face.

Please don't make threads like this... I'm pretty sure their was a rule againt "This or that" Threads.

Re: Pc or Mac

No, I don't think there is. He just wants to know which is better for video editing... A rather innocent question, IMO.

Re: Pc or Mac

And the answer isn't in the hardware, it's in the software. And even then, it further comes down to the skill of the video editor.

Re: Pc or Mac

I'd say Mac, but the downside is, is that the QC pro 9000 isn't available for the Mac.

Re: Pc or Mac

Let's dissect this a bit for you, seeing as it's your first computer.

A Mac is more expensive. A Mac doesn't have as much of a range of software available to it (this can be a blessing however; there aren't many viruses for Macs for this reason... Apple is very tight with their code. So you're trading off a more expansive library of available software for some extra safety). A Mac can't be upgraded (as easily as a PC). However a Mac does boast a nice UI (user interface) and what most consider to be easy computing. Apple stores, from what I hear, offer excellent customer service and are very helpful, but again with Apple you'll have to shell out a lot more for the privilege.

A PC can be a lot cheaper which is definitely a plus. If you do you research and buy separate components tailored specially for what you'll be using it for you can save a fortune as opposed to buying on off the shelf, or even buying a Mac. While it's true that PC's are more vulnerable to viruses than Macs, if you get some decent antivirus software such as Nod32 and use some common sense this won't be an issue. I haven't gotten a virus an a time I can remember on my PC. With a PC you can also upgrade it as you need to... say your graphics card gets out of date or carks it, it's extremely simple to just get a new one and install it. Not so with a Mac.

That's just some stuff off the top of my head. I'm not pro or anti PC or Mac, I'm just stating facts. Personally I use a PC loaded with Windows 7 at home, however at work as a multimedia designer I use a good mix of both PCs and Mac. When it comes down to it it's whatever gets the job done.

In short, as I assume you're fairly young and don't have a massive budget, I'd recommend a PC. If you do some research and buy the separate components in order to build your own one you'll save a bunch and it's also a good learning experience.

^^
please don't talk like a no-life youtuber.

I prefer windows, because I never used Macs. Maybe macs are a Bit better in... something, but my main problem is the fact that 60% of the software doens't work on the mac. And 90% computer technics (like my dad) are specialised in Windows.

And people, I say windows, because it's not just a PC. You guys watch way too much TV. mini/rolleyes

Re: Pc or Mac

Mac has the best video editing software by far (Final Cut Pro is used by professionals) but it's very expensive. PC has a wider range of cheaper editing software.

Re: Pc or Mac

I'm going to throw Linux and BSD into the mix. You know... for balance and stuff.

Really, it's all a matter of preference, and how much you want to spend, and what you need it to do. Try them out, see which you like.

Re: Pc or Mac

Arrayanimation, why do you think Macs are "the best thing"? Also the version of the QCP9k is useless for brickfilming on account of it having no manual focus.

Hazzat, there are many othe editing suites that professionals use besides final cut.
