Is there a way you can animate a movie title in gimp?
Animate? No, you can only do stuff frame by frame and then piece it together.
Actually there is. You have to download the GIMP Animation plug-in (or is it already embedded? I forget) and you use multiple layers and convert it to a GIF. Use Google for tutorials on GIMP animations. Here's are a few (poor) examples by me.

For Gimp has a plugin GAP, the GIMP Animation Package. Please go to the "Using GAP" tutorial http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Using_GAP/

I find it funny that a community about animation so dislikes animated graphics
