Topic: Dusk/Night shots

I'm just wondering how I can get a sunset to night lighting for my next brickfilm.  it takes place at night (did I really just type that?...) and I really need this. Could anybody help? Oh, I'm using the 9K so if there are any tips and tricks for this type of lighting with it would be really useful. Thanks.

And afterwards he still doensn't know how to do it.
Doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Dusk/Night shots

Thanks capedkid. but I'm more wondering how I would set it up more than doing it in After effects.  I don't use after effects so is there a way to do it in GIMP or Sony Vegas?

Re: Dusk/Night shots

I understand. I'm just wondering if there is a specific setup for this kind of shot.

Re: Dusk/Night shots

I find taping blue or grey paper on the lights makes the mood for an eerie dark shot. I might post a tutorial soon...

Persist.

Re: Dusk/Night shots

Sunset would involve placing the lamps lower down to simulate the sun being lower in the sky and covering them with orange gels, though twiddling with the white balance might be able to deliver the same effect.

Night-time shots involve lighting the set reasonably well and then turning down the exposure on your camera.

Re: Dusk/Night shots

Thanks MOL and Hazzat.  (no offense to the other two) You two have helped a lot. Thanks. I've rarely done shots at night for my live-action films and I've used blue gels and cookie sheets homemade mini/wink ) to give my films lights.

MOL: if you add a tutorial, that would be awesome.
Hazzat: Thanks for the tips on the night shots.
