Re: BiM official contest of 2009 anyone?

MM - Your enthusiasm is appreciated, but for a contest of this importance, the community is going to want an older, more experienced member in charge. And stop arguing with your brother over in the internet. Go into the other room and beat him up so we don't have to hear about it.

A lot of the ideas that have been created so far sound like they would result in very similar films (STAR, AID, etc.). Personally, I'd like to see us drop the whole "clever-acronym" thing and just come up with a good theme, but if I had to pick one that's listed here, I think SAW looks interesting.

Tying into the documentary idea, how about the theme being "real-life events?" I can't think of an acronym, but the restriction would be that every film would have to be based on a true story. Just a thought.

With all due respect Noodle, I don't want you here. - Ratboy Productions

Re: BiM official contest of 2009 anyone?

A multiple genre/best overall Filmer contest. There are several genres (Action, Comedy, mystery, horror, etc.)with prizes going to the top three in each genre, you would make an entry in each genre, so there would be a grand prize to whoever has the best work overall.

I ran this idea past blue_ghost awhile back, and he thought it was a good idea.

I can't think of many possibilities with that one.

There are a lot. It could be about a guy trying to put down oil companies. What about an army of robots invading earth and we fight back?

If we do SAW, I made a banner for it. It kinda needs to be remade.

Re: BiM official contest of 2009 anyone?

I recon SAW is a good idea. It gives you lots of ideas and it isn't too restrictive.

Re: BiM official contest of 2009 anyone?

Like TheNoodle, I would favor something different from the acronym-based contests of the past.  In fact, I think something very open ended, like the concept from the not-enormously-successful MoB Contest, would be good, with an end of the year (December 2009) deadline rather than a summer deadline.  The extra time would allow people to make more elaborate and/or polished finished films.  My suggestion would be not to create any requirements regarding specific elements that need to be included, but rather an emphasis on quality in particular aspects - and given the current emphasis on technical prowess in this community I'd suggest encouraging good storytelling.

Re: BiM official contest of 2009 anyone?

I like the idea of it running all year, but I actually prefer the acronym. Maybe it's just because I haven't been around that long, I think SaW is a great idea. Would Schlaeps be running it, or would a member?

I'd rather you not do that, if we do SAW, I'd like to make the banner, I was the one who created the idea, and I'd feel more comfortable doing it myself. I'll try and pull off a goo banner soon. Then we'll have a vote on which banner.

Re: BiM official contest of 2009 anyone?

IMO we'll all getting away ahead of ourselves here mini/wink. I like SAW. I've only been a round here for a year and a bit, but I like the idea of a fancy acronym mini/tongue. Also, do we have any ideas who could be the organizer?
