Topic: panning

so i have learned how to do key frames in final cut express but that isn't good enough
so i was watching nathan well's 30 years of a minifig and he has a lot of circular based panning and i was wonder how to do any kind of panning
particularly circular based
are you supposed to do the panning in post production or manually when film making

Re: panning

If you have a train track that's circular. Though at the end of 30 years I think he was turning the minifigure.

Re: panning

He was sleuth. I was just about to post a thread like this, on how to do it manually. It looks much better, and It is less grainy most likely. I would like to see how Vizard Nexus' ( mini/tongue ) cool technic cradle for the QCP 9000 works though. *cough* instructions/pictures *cough*

Persist.

Re: panning

technically, the circle shot is called an "arcshot". I have that problem too. MOL, if there's a tutorial around, that'd be useful.

Re: panning

Well, I know you can do it digitally, but manually is quite easy. I have panning on several of my videos that I've made so far. I haven't even used a train track for it, I've just used my hand, held it and just took a frame, moved it, took a frame, moved it...always holding it. Never letting go. I could upload a picture on how I cradle my QCP 9000.

Re: panning

wouldn't that be shaky and uneven plus i am using a DSLR nikon D60

Re: panning

hellooo
*bump*

Re: panning

Still haven't solved your problem? I do agree though, with any camera that's not a webcam, it would be pretty tough to do a dolly shot like that. You could always do it in post production though, in your editor.
