Re: walking

Recommended, that helped me with walking a lot.

Re: walking

I used to do 2 frame walk. That taught me the nice 4 frame, and my current 6 frame, which is a beauty.

I use a five frame walk and it comes out quite smooth.

Wait... three frame walk? I think you should use 4 at least.

Re: walking

i use 4

Re: walking

I swap between 4, 5 and 7 frame walk cycles, which makes it a lot harder to sync with the walking sound effects in post.

7?! That's the first time I've heard somebody using a 7 frame walk cycle.

Re: walking

Can't say I've heard of an 8 frame, either. That would be a nightmare to shoot.

Re: walking

My solution to walking was to buy 8 identical minifigs from bricklink.com. I very carefully posed each minifig in the eight cycle walking positions. I made a test animation to get the positions just right. After that animation was nothing more than pulling one minifig up, and dropping the next one in place. I keep my duplicates in a egg carton all numbered. On the botton of each foot was a number as well.

This solution is a bit expensive, but it is a huge help when doing long walking scenes as in "Nina in No Limits" where a minifig walked the lenght of 3 large gray base plates. As it was it took me a full day to animate.

Re: walking

That's genius! It would save so much time and produce consistent results! Great tip mini/bigsmile
