The plot of the film would be really simple. A man wakes up, and finds out he's late for something (work, a date, whatever). He tries everything to get to his destination on time (stealing cars, bikes, pushing people over, EVERYTHING), and we follow his journey which has many obstacles.

The film would be really similar to The Letter by James Maduzia.

The goal of the project is that it should not be hard to be part of the "team". The team would mostly consist out of animator. Everyone, new to the hobby or already very experienced, should be able to play a small role in the animation process.

You see, every segment could be filmed in a different set. You could have animator one filming our character walking/running/bicycling out of screen, then switch to the next animator and the only thing that would need to be the same is the minifig's look and maybe some props.

This means that this film is not hard to "be able to work on" when it comes to sets. As long as you have the bricks to create the minifig of the main character (and some bricks for a set), you can (technically) be an animator.

The demands for the picture quality would not be very high. One must be able to meet some requirements: heaving a steady and reasonably ungrainy picture, with reasonable animation. For example, a film with picture quality like this one would probably be taken as part of the film. Just to give you an impression of how easy it is to be able to work with the rest.

OK, I've talked to BertL, who is feeling rather done with this project. Since I'm still a fan of the idea, I'd like to see this go through. First though, we have a few problems to sort out. Everyone who was signed up but has not yet sent in footage, you are currently out of the project. If you wish to re-enter, you will need to film the segment I am about to request and submit it for judging, like everyone else.
Seeing as the last application process ended rather badly, I have changed it somewhat. This time around, you will need to film the scene in bold lettering and either send it to-

PM me a link to the clip. The clip should be at least 5 seconds. Remember, do not join lightly. If you become a member of this project you will have to film at least 15-60 seconds of your best quality animation.
Not everyone who applies will be chosen to become an animator. To join, you must have at least medium technical qualities. If you aren't sure you meet this requirement, try out anyway, it's only a 5 second clip and the worst that can happen is I turn you down.
The shot to film is-
A man is running. His path runs through two people carrying a stretcher, and he can't go around them.

What happens from here is up to you. He can flip over the stretcher, slide under it, etc. Anything you can think of.
I don't mind if you have a minimal set for your test clip, but you will need to be able to build sets for your actual clip.
If you have questions about LFW, or the submission project, ask here.
I really think we can do this people! Take the opportunity to exercise your animation chops and start sending those auditions!

It's good to see this revived, I'll be sure to make a test clip mini/smile

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

I'm glad to see this get revived. And I'm even more glad that you used my scene idea for the application mini/wink. Are you still going to use the footage people sent in before (I think me and a couple other people sent in clips)?

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

I would love to join.

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

@Munzapoppa: I plan to integrate footage sent in previously, although I will need to talk to BertL about obtaining it.
Glad to see there's still interest in the project. Just in case I wasn't clear, there's no need to ask to audition, you can just send a clip and I'll get back to you mini/smile

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

Sweet, I would probably do this.

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

Oh, sorry, I wasn't thinking there. If you don't have a stretcher, a plate or block between them would work fine; anything to avoid.

Great! I was part of the original so now I'll be a part of this one!

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

Excellent! I'm going to get to it right after I finish my new film. I have about 1/6 of it left. Shouldn't take to long. I'd be more than happy to join!

I thought of an epic idea for my test.

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

Is this still on, or is it dead? Cause I would love to join but it looks pretty dead to me

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

Maybe my love for seeing this a finished project will help it. I don't really have anything planned except for tim & fRED episodes so if I think up an epic idea I'll mash a test together.

Re: Late for Work is BACK IN BUSINESS I think

Quick question assuming this is back on - if we get selected, what time frame will our full animation be expected in?
