Topic: Free or inexpensive ($100 or less) animating/editing software for Mac?

I have good news and bad news.

-Good news: I got a second laptop, a mac.

-Bad news: I don't know of any animating programs (besides MonkeyJam), that I could download for free and have onion skinning. If anyone could help me, that would be great, but if there are absolutely no free programs for mac besides MonkeyJam, what is a relatively inexpensive ($100 or less) animating program with onion skinning? I am also looking for good editing programs that work for Mac, but I already know of a few. Thanks!

Sorry to burst your big ol' bubble the MonkeyJam on a mac is only available to VMWare vusion users or PCer's mini/tongue
But it is like only £60/$90 and will increase your productivity when animating; you can use the 9000 on it and PC programs!
And anyway:
Animating: iStopMotion 2 Express Is what I use when animating on my iMac.
Editing: Stop Motioner Beta 3 Is some excellent cheap animating software Once Again when in the rare occasion when I animate on my iMac I use this!
Hope I helped!

Welcome to the site!

If you're looking for free software, it's a good idea to check the Free Software List!

Ok, I never really knew there was a free software list on this site. I'll check it out. But I have found an animating program after looking for ages and going back and looking again and again and again...anyways, you get the point. I found a free animating program called AnimAide 1.0.3, and it looks like I will be quite satisfied with it. mini/bigsmile

Hey BG! This is vnanimation from Youtube, glad to see you here! mini/smile

I highly recommended Helium Frog, it's packed full of features and you should definitely try it out!

EDIT: Oops, HF is only for Windows.

I heard FramebyFrame is a good animation software for macs. Never had any experience with it though mini/tongue.

if it is software you are looking for please look at the free software list but there is framebyframe witch (through expirience) is very helpful and simple although is may slow down depending on the video length... it includes onion skin

also if you are willing to spend 50$ get iStopmotion, it is a very good program with onion skin, frame importing audio traking and it is also incredibly easy to use. i also use this as well but am looking for a good mac compatable camcorder

I have awesome sauce in my veins! Which i sprinkle on each of my videos to give it an extra dose of aweomseness!

Here is a good website with a ton of good options:

http://www.stopmotionworks.com/stopmosoftwr.htm

framebyframe is good. Also, check out Dragon Stop Motion. Don't use Istopmotion. It's kinda a piece of junk (sorry to those who like it) FrameThief is supposed to be good. Also, HeliumFrog is only for PC-Windows.

Is it free? I didn't know that it was free. It's supposed to be good. Also, StopMotioner Beta is pretty good, as is ICanAnimate. ICanAnimate has some image retouching features (for removing wires & rigs) very useful feature. Also, the $50 version of IStopmotion isn't worth it.
