Hello Folks! 
Well I aced the sound part of the concept of Gunshots and Cannons, now I need the picture
effects to dazzle you folks! 
And let me make one thing clear I DO NOT HAVE GIMP!
Soo How do I do these effects? I want a real smoke effect, not some edit in picture using paints.

Not having GIMP is something you need to make clear. GIMP is free and available on all platforms, so if you need it, you can just go and get it. Not hard at all.
If you want smoke effects, you should be able to find some at DetonationFilms. You'll need either GIMP or some other, possibly expensive effects or video editing program such as After Effects or Sony Vegas to put it over your video. If you don't have any of those programs, and won't download GIMP, you're pretty stuck. You could always use cotton, but that tends to be a little harder to make look realistic.
K, the muzze flash for the guns are good its the Cannon is the problem, I want a smoke effect when it fires, not a big flash.
Why not get GIMP?
I just got GIMP and handled the gunshot, once again Im having trouble with a smoke explosion that looks like cannon fire.
Let someone do it for you...
Someone with effects experience. 
If there was a cheap way to do effects like those, the expensive software wouldn't exist. Unfortunately, there is no magical solution to this or any other similar software question. Either (a) pony up the cash and get the software; (b) make do with a less desirable alternative; or (c) have a member who does have the software do it. Like that guy.^
for the cannon shot, use cotton.
I can do it in Vegas for you
I use this site: http://www.detonationfilms.com/free_stuff.htm Just either luma key or chroma key the gunshots into your shot and your made! I like this technique because it is fast, effective, and easy! Try it, and be amazed!

Don't worry about it, BB. Bumping a topic is generally considered acceptable when you have something useful to add to the conversation, which you clearly did.
