Topic: Extracting songs from iTunes.

Yes, I would like to know if there is any way to extract a song from iTunes as either .wav, or as a .mp3. It was originally on a CD, but was uploaded into iTunes as part of my family's "Music consolidation" program. We access our music over the house network, meaning all the songs are on a single hard drive. I have tried copying it from the source file, however it comes out as an .m4a, meaning it won't upload to "MonkeyJam."

Re: Extracting songs from iTunes.

You can't export to .mp3 a lot of the time, many files are .m4p.

If you want to, you can go to preferences and change the file you export as to mp3, then go advanced>export as .mp3, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Extracting songs from iTunes.

Download Audacity, go to Edit > Preferences > Recording > Device  select - 'What you hear'

Now anything that you hear through your sound card over your speakers can be recorded
Once captured just save as MP3 mini/wink

In Audacity it can also be called Stereo Mix or Wave.
They all mean the same.

Ah yes.  Quite a simple fix.  Open up iTunes, go to Preferences -> Import Settings (under "When You Insert a CD").  Then choose 'MP3' or 'WAV Encoder' and hit OK.  Now when you right click a song, it should say "Create MP3 Version" near the top.  And that's all there is to it.
