I've been experimenting a little with HDRI. HDRI, which stands for High Dynamic Range Imaging, is basically taking a number of pictures of the same thing. Each picture has a different shutter speed setting, though, meaning that the "brightness" of each pic changes. Then, afterwards you composite the pictures together to remove hotspots from images (or get rid of black spots). Comparison:
One of the pictures without HDRI (lots of white spots around the back. Shutter speed: 8 seconds.
Another picture without HDRI (less white spots, but very, very dark). Shutter speed: 2 seconds.
With HDRI. Shutter speeds of the original pictures are 8, 6, 5, 4, 2, 1 and 0.5 seconds (which is really long because in a brickfilm you usually use shutter speeds of 1/50 or 1/100 which is 0.02 or 0.01 seconds).
The more pictures you take and combine, the better the result gets.
EDIT: Fun fact: the street lights in the background are the same things as the 3 white "light stripes" in this picture.

I love all these photos, especially Big Light's photos from after the ice storm. I've never seen anything like it, in fact, I've never even seen snow.
