I'm just wondering what is the best software or the first software you should buy or download. VirtualDub, Gimp etc.....

For animation (assuming you run windows), you should start out with SMA, or MonkeyJam if you want to
For imaging, GIMP
For editing, (again assuming you run windows) just use WMM.
I, however, use SMA, Photoshop and Sony Vegas Platinum 9.

I think this list will help you out
.
Just try some of them. It's all free stuff.
Oh and Fib, cool stuff. I assume you didn't buy all of them (if you know what I mean).
Does anyone here use iKit Movie animation program? I have it and its pretty useful.
I use Stop Motion Pro, GIMP, and WMM ![]()

You should have spent the money on the Video Editor before teh capture program. If it takes frames, it'll work.

I use MonkeyJam & Helium Frog and FXhome: EffectsLab Pro, Adobe Premiere Elements 7
!
