Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

May 10th, 2005. Originally titled, "Nick's First Movie". I later renamed it to "The Bounty Hunter". Sorry, I don't currently have a copy online.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

Moo-C-Y, that's a pretty well developed movie for a first. Nice sets!

My second, because the 1st has been lost. I thought it was all that, and most of the people at my church liked it, I don't know when I'll makean actual good brickfilm.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

My first animation was of a minifigure building a car and driving away in it. (In all its 1fps WMM glory) I didn't know that stop-motion animation existed. I thought I was a genius who had invented it. I was, I believe, 13 at the time and not at all knowledgeable about anything related to film.

My first film, though, was about two-minutes long and involved a medieval kid who wanted to become a knight. It really wasn't that bad. It had some minor set bumps and very few different camera angles (no long shots), and it used subtitles, but at least it was a coherent story.

It's interesting to think how completely clueless I was. I didn't know a thing about what I was supposed to be doing. mini/smile  And in a way, those were good days. Always trying something completely new, never knowing whether what I was working on was actually going to turn out half-decent. Man, I didn't even know what 'decent' animation was. I was so impressed with LEGO figures moving, that I was hooked after my first try.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

I knew what a "brickfilm" was before I created my first film. I also tried to make it 15 fps, although it's about 8

That's exactly what I thought when I started. Thinking, "Look what I've invented!" Then eventually I learned of actual stop motion films and contests and such.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

As for me, my first brickfilm probably had a slightly different background than the other's. Therefore I have to say I'm not that long into brickfilming, about a year ago now. At this time, I was pretty much into image editing, and studying Photoshop just for myself. I knew brickfilms and regularly watched them on YouTube. So, the idea of combining those two aspects and trying out to do a LEGO stop motion animation grew, until I finally made a little 20-second clip of Darth Vader (of course!) turning on a lightsabre and afterwards torturing a rebel with some flashes he did. Because I did know nearly nothing about techniques, I had to cut out most of the background afterwards in Photoshop, because I hadn't been thinking of building a set for it, and instead shooted on my desk. But despite of all these problems, this test came out pretty well for a first try (it can still be seen on my YouTube account, btw.)

I kept working on it, found several brickfilming websites on the net, read about techniques and tried to improve my skills, until I finally released my first "real" little film, a short movie I made for christmas. Slightly after this, I got to BiM, about half a year ago. mini/smile

LEGGO MUVEY

Way back in 2003/2004, I first made a short clip named "The Dead Ninja", which was actually pretty ok technically. On top of that I made a leggo muvey involving a car crash (similarly to my brickfilm test Car Drive Test), together with a friend.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

My first films were made with the Lego Studios set back in 2002, so naturally, my first film was about a dinosaur attacking Lego city. Eventually, the mic built into the Lego Cam stopped working properly for voice-overs(either that or the quality was so bad it sounded like it was broken) so for scenes with dialogue, I had to shoot a live action clip and read lines in the background. At the time, I was blissfully unaware that Lego animation was a hobby widely embraced and studied. That all changed five years later when I discovered Brickfilms.com by accident.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

I  have made no lego MUVVEYS before I knew about brickfilms.com and bricksinmotion.com.

Re: Your first LEGGO MUVVEY

You have one you made at LEGO club on my computer. So I'll upload that to my vimeo account AND SHOW IT TO THE WORLD! mini/bigsmile
EDIT: found it, now to UPLOAD! (It's that "Fake Hill" one.)
