I have a program that lets me download YouTube videos no matter who owns them
Real Player. It does it.
Oh, I have something called "YouTube Downloader". lol.
Do you use "Video DownloadHelper"?

Or Zamzar
What's the point of it...
I was able to download an old video of mine, and I lost the original file. It helps because it downloads in high quality.

So it seems that on July 15, the new (crappy) beta YT channel design will become compulsory for all users, not just an optional choice as it is now.
While this isn't a big enough deal for me to drop everything and leave YouTube, I definitely am against this move...and it seems that several thousand other users are in that same boat. I'm actually surprised YouTube is still going through with this, considering the immense negative response the new channel design has gotten.

I just switched over, figuring that I might as well do it now, and get used to the new design. Wait. I really miss my old YouTube!!!
*sob*
EDIT: I got it back. I am a happy man.

The new layout is too clunky and the channel info is half way down the page. ![]()
Yeah. The video says that they new design will "enhance the user experience." By that, I guess they meant playing to the general audience's fast-growing short attention spans and cutting right to the videos, making the actual written information on a person's profile as least-accessible as possible.
And given how few people actually read the information on my profile already, I can expect the amount of "waht camera do u use??" or "how do u get the banner abuv ur profile?/" messages to skyrocket once the design is implemented.
And it is bad for partners.
Umm...how is it bad for partners? We can now display advertisements on our channel pages, which is nice. I guess you can't really emphasize revenue-shared videos as much.
Other than that, though, I really don't like the new design. You can't showcase specific videos as easily, and as others have said, the info is somewhat hidden now. To be fair, I already get loads of questions that are in the FAQ even as it is now, I'm not sure if it'll make a difference. (The small minority who would think to to check the channel will still do it, IMO)
It's funny though, the most popular question for my HD video tutorial is "that made my video 25 gb! how do i upload that?!?!" In the tutorial, I mention that it's going to need to be compressed, have multiple annotations further explaining this, and the entire second half of the video explains how to compress it to a smaller size. It boggles my mind that many people only watch half of the video tutorial before asking such a stupid question.
Pretty soon, people will be leaving comments saying "What happened in the movie? I didn't watch it, and I want to know."
Actually, now that I look at it, the new channels aren't that bad. I mean, they let the user stay on the channel page and access all the videos, theyre likely to be scrolling down the page and reading the channel info, since I do this on normal videos now (if the video is boring I will scroll down and read all the bad comments
)
But yeah. I'm going to switch over now and test it out.
