I use 4 frame when my characters are outside, and the 6 when they're inside.

The main walkcycle I use is 4 frame.
Sometimes I usse 6 frames. mini/wink

5 frame. also known as the Nathan Wells walk cycle.

Nathan uses the 3 frame, I think... I saw his tutorial.

no:
1. standing position
2. leg and oposite arm out
3. figure balanced inbetween studs
4. other leg and arm pointing backwards
5. standing position

I usually use a 6 frame walk cycle. But if I want the fig to be walking but in a hurry I use 4.
