Topic: Big Bang Theory (TV Show)

If you haven't seen this show, you need too.  It's on CBS Mondays at 8:00 and 9:30 Pacific time, and Easter time.  Yes, it's accurate for both.  (I suppose they have individual networks for east and west)  It's perhaps the best-written show on television right now.  The actors are great, the timing is amazing.   I'd put it up there with Seinfeld.  I really hope CBS keeps it.  If you can, watch it tonight, come back and discuss.  Or, if you've seen it, discuss.  I have it TiVo'd.  Yay for comedy.

Seinfeld was the most culturally significant sitcom ever.  it is simply impossible to bash Seinfeld.

Man, this thread derailed from the Big Bang Theory sitcom to the Seinfeld sitcom in one response. I haven't seen Big Bang Theory but I heard good things about it. What exactly is so good about it?

BertL: geek humor for one, from debates on the Batman comics to space toilet jokes.  Many of us can relate to the characters in some way, including the can't-talk-to-woman-without-choking-up, the unrequited love, the socially impaired, the sex-deprived male, the genius oblivious to social norms, and the girl next door you want to hang out with.  And you do tend to laugh out loud in most episodes, literally laugh out loud.

And if that is the best the writers can come up with, then I can tell just from that that it is a very poor program.

Yeah, even movie trailers, which are filled with actual footage from the movie itself, are not necessarily a good representation of the movie.  I always felt like the majority of Pixar's release trailers did not come close to doing the actual films justice.  (The Finding Nemo trailer in particular sort of scared me away from it until I read some reviews)

Insult? Saying that it is anywhere near as good as Seinfeld is an incredible praise.  I watched the first three links lechnology posted and barely cracked a smile. "I'll have a diet coke" isn't a joke and I have no idea why the audienced laughed at the line.

I've never seen it before, becuase, thank god, Australia hasn't started broadcasting it, (as far as I know). The clips I watched where less than entertaining, and watching comedy shows infront of a computer isn't nearly as enjoyable as watching them with friends at a television, but when you are watching youtube clips of a decent show, you usually laugh once or twice. The way you guys where talking about it, I expected to watch some decent clips, but all I found out was that I would have been better of finishing homework. Red Dwarf and Seinfeld are the best shows to date, and haven't been, and probably won't be, contested, especially by this show.

I've seen about two and I must say I find it dire. It seems like the writers just got a check-list of geeky things and just seen how many references they could put into the typical sitcom story line. If you want a geeky sitcom I think you should go for The IT Crowd.
