Topic: What walk cycle do you use?

I decided to start a thread for this because some people don't know any good walk cycles. And others don't know enough. Yes you may post running cycles. To post your walk cycle you can post images for each frame of your step. or post a link to a video tutorial.
Example:  Frame 1

Have fun discovering walking and running cycles! mini/wink

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I'll post mine in a little while. mini/smile
Yesterday I studied how I walk to make my walk cycle more accurate.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I usually have another step between 1-2 and 2-3.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I have a 3 step cycle

Yer, 3 Frame. Is that bad?

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

That's terrible. Seriously. At least 4 frame is the way to go, man. (It's in the top post of this thread. mini/wink)

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I use 5 frame, according to Hazzat that makes me weird.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I use the 6 Frame and it comes out very great (not to mention it matches up with the sound from the BF Sound Library)

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

i use the six frame except according to hazzat i have excessive flailing of arms mini/tongue and i havent quite mastered it yet but here is how i do it:

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I am not an expert brickfilmer, (In fact I'm as thick as a whale omelette) so always have difficulty balancing my minifigs across the base studs.

I filmed this sample at 15 FPS using frames 1 3 and 4 above. I filmed on twos (taking two shots per pose). I was quite happy with the walking pace and it is much simpler to do. Perhaps we should call this method the "whale omelete" method!

It is ideal if you want to create a character that walks like he has had an acccident in his pants.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

Simpler, not better.  Even though it may be 15fps if you took two shots per pose that would technically be 7.5 frames per second.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I use the 4, 5 and 6 walk cycles.  My main one is 4, if the camera is quite close to the minifig I use 5, and if the camera is very close to the minifig I use 5 or 6, depending on the speed I want.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I use the 5 or 6 frame cycle.
Tutorial here. (By me).

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I've been using Nathan Well's 5 frame walk cycle, that includes the standing frames.
And I saw NXTManiac's tutorial a few day ago and I'm going to try that out.
Another thing, I know its a really bad habit but when I'm in a hurry, I film a film 4 frame walk cycle, also with standing frames.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

i stumbled across this one a while back: Quigibo's Walk Tutorial
it's the one i use and one of the best ive seen

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I used to use a shorter cycle like the one in the first post of this thread, I now have another intermediate frame and it does smooth it out a bit.

Just started using it. The results are great.

Re: What walk cycle do you use?

I make a walkcycle, then I slow it down, and then I use pixelmotion to smooth it.
(just kidding), I'm using a 5 (sometimes 4) frames cycle
