Topic: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

alright, so I bought Portal, the only problem was, it doesn't run on a mac. so, I use this nifty program called DarWine, (free) and get this, it actually allows .exe programs to run on a mac! so, if you have a mac, and lets say you want to run bafran on it, just download it with Darwine!

There is also CrossOver Games, which has some other software for non-game programs.

Yeah, but CrossOver Games slows your computer down with 50 percent.

Ah, DarWine, based on WINE. Shoulda given a heads up on this myself. I use the original linux version, and it works great. Check out their app db to see if your program has any problems with it.

Re: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

Is there a program like Darwine (That is free) that allows you to run Mac programs on a PC?

Re: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

DarWine works nice, but I've had some problems with it, plus I don't want to open that up to the ability for Windows virus to work their magic, though, if it is possible.

Actually, I just thought, could you use the Quickcam 9000 control panel with this?

Re: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

Well, I downloaded it, and even the preloaded demos don't work.  Any suggestions?

Re: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

strange, I seem to have no problem with it. what kind of demos? darwine can only run .exe files, so yeah.

if the QC9000 driver is a .exe file, then yes, you would be able to use it. mini/bigsmile

Re: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

Well, my Mac is unavailable at the moment, but I seem to recall it kept telling me to check the log.  Strange.  I really want to use the QC now, and just when I don't have my Mac.

Re: mac users who want some PC programs, fear no more!

If it works anything like WINE it creates you a little virtual C drive, which means once you've decided you don't want it you can remove it all and it'll take that C drive with it.
