Topic: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

The title of this thread is pretty much self explanatory, post some great cinematography stills here! Unlike the challenge you don't have to wait for a new theme every week, you could just post any theme based picture. so get posting!!

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

So you want us to post random shots of our lego while incorporating our cinematography skills? Is there a winner?

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

No. Just post shots you think best display your prowess in cinematography.

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

So, personal favorites from our own work?  Ok.

I was really happy with how the colors worked out in this one, I'm partial to out of focus light sources and that kind of thing and this shot came together quite well IMO.  Lit by Christmas tree lights.

This was a big effects shot, obviously, but I put some thought into the cinematography as well; I used objects in the scene to emphasize the perspective, with Jack covering the vanishing point so that the viewer's eyes would be directed toward him.

Wow.
How long did the second shot take?

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

That second shot is all computered generated if i am not mistaken

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

The minifig is real.  I took some photographs of LEGO to texture the buildings.  It was one of the first shots I started working on, and the last one I finished, all the layers and processing on it made for time-consuming shot.  There's a breakdown of it in the making of.

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

I like those a lot, Sméagol, particularly the first one. I dig the slight tinges of purple and gold on Jack's head as well as the illuminated doorway.

From my own work:

This was originally an entry to the Cinematography Challenge, but when we upgraded from Refugee Camp to Bricks In Motion, it never got judged. I created the water with aluminum foil (thanks to Night_Owl for that) and the fogginess by breathing on the camera lens and quickly taking a shot.

I'm pretty pleased with how this came out. My only regret is that the the seats are not all red; unfortunately I don't have that many seats.

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

Blue_Ghost I like the first one
it looks like there is mist

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

how do you do the water with tinfoil?

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

Just take a sheet of tinfoil, make sure it doesn't wrinkle; that's all. I believe I was the first person to use the technique, but I'm not sure.

Blue_Ghost, I like both; the second one might look good with less harsh lighting on the guy's face.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite shots I've done:

A shallow depth of field may have been a liability in some shots of that film, but here I think it looks fantastic.

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

I'll have to try that

Re: Show Off Your Cinematography Skills!

Doesn't look real, and it isn't really Cinematic.
But I like the idea.

EDIT: this is my favourite. Maybe you guys remember the film.

Yea, the whole thing is completely computer generated. I'm gonna order that model in a couple days though. Maybe when I get it I'll make the shot with it.
