I think i may use this as my big return to brickfilming.
I need to purchase a new camera though, do some research on what I need....
Hey Smeagol, if we aren't permitted to use copyrighted music, how come we are allowed to use Lego Minifigs, which are copyrighted?
LEGO Minifigs are indeed trademarked, but unlike using copyrighted music, the inclusion minifigs in films would fall under fair use much more easily. You aren't, after all, giving away for free what someone would normally have to buy from LEGO, as is the case with music. I'm not an expert on these matters, but LEGO hasn't had a problem with brickfilming in the past, whereas using copyrighted music in a film is a blantant abuse of copyright law.
The events page should be fixed now.
I have decided that due to time issues, I won't be able to enter the S.T.A.R. contest i'm still going to make my film, but I just don't think i'll be able to get it finished in time. I'm fairly new to brickfilming, and i've never made anything over one minute and thirty seconds. siiiggghhhh ![]()
Isn't the 26 of July on a Sunday? ![]()
I cannot enter this contest. So I'll spend the summer on Time Paradox. I wanted that all along.
I've seen this issue touched on, but I'm still a bit unclear on it: Would the Royalty-Free music on the website that Hazzat linked to be permitted without seeking specific permission from composer/performer/etc.?
My 2nd question: given that the film cannot be made public on the internet before the deadline, can we post links to tiny clips from what we're working on to YouTube (publicly) to get feedback from fellow brickfilmers?
[BTW, I'm intrigued by the fact that 8AM UTC (Greenwich Mean Time) is 9AM in London, according to timeanddate.com. Does G.B. have daylight savings time? Only Iceland is 8AM at 8AM UTC in July.]
1) Yes, music from Incompetech, properly credited, is permissible. If anyone has questions about similar sites feel free to ask, there are many that may be OK but I would still like to check the licenses in case.
2) Yes, as long as you're not posting massive quantities of your movie. You may also be interested in the STAR trailer challenge, which I plan to announce closer to the STAR deadline.
Looking forward to some of the interpretations that my spawn!:D Can'ty wait to get started!!!!XD
I'll start filming as soon as get good quality with my LQP9K.
Trying to decide if I should do a film for this. Someone tell me not to.
I swear, this contest has been nothing but hell for me. I've made no significant progress on my latest script, and I'm starting to not like where it's going, so I'm now considering scrapping it and moving on to a fourth potential idea.
I'm at a standstill. No voice actors, a 3/4 finished script, no sets, no music. Geez
