News

04/23/13 Added Trelby.

04/07/11 I have delurked to add a couple more pieces of software. A nice looking musical scoring program and Libre Office. If you guys know of any dead pieces of software or any you think need adding just say!

18/04/11 Added Lightworks

01/01/11 Tiny little update.

04/10/09 Everything is linked up and I've added a couple more things.

14/04/09 Finally got around to linking up the 3D, Audio and Graphics sections for Linux. I'll finish off the video ones soon.

07/02/09 Added LiVES. I'll start linking up Linux software for lazy people. mini/tongue

14/01/09 Added DVD authoring software

11/01/09 Added some software from NCH

01/01/09 A bit of tidying, and a small update. Also, iMovie HD is up for download from Apple as the new version is a bit pants.

27/12/08 Uploaded the list to Bricks In Motion! Huzzah! We're Back!

26/9/08 Added some more that were lost on the great SQL disaster of '08, and added a few more bits. Keep the suggestions coming! Surely there must be more OSX programs knocking around!

23/8/08 I have added links to all the Mac and Windows software. Linux users can use Synaptic or Yum or something and search for it there for the appropriate binary. or google the tarballs if youre feeling adventurous. I may add links at a later date for the Linux software. Ive had to do all of this again since the server change.  Gah.

24/6/08 A free software list! Any suggestions will be welcome! Ive got some stuff on it now, and more will be added all the time!

Re: The Free Software List

Found some excellent free software called Prism, for video format conversion for the Windows platform.

http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/plus.html

It converts most formats.

I just converted a 238 MB avi file to a 188 MB mp4 file. It appears to work fine and the compression looks like it works really well.

Re: The Free Software List

No the free download is a mini version and works fine. You can buy the full version if you want to. But the demo is a fully working cut down version as far as I am aware there are no limitations.

It just doesn't have all the bells and whistles the full version has. A bit like free Animator Simple DV+ and the more features full version.

Re: The Free Software List

I thought I would point out that iMovie HD, which had a lot more editing features versus the new one, has been put by Apple for download for those who own iMovie '08.

Re: The Free Software List

Point taken. I forgot about that completely.

I dunno really. I downloaded the trial last night then my battery died so I went to bed. I might have to try it later.
