Topic: How do you animate short legs walking/running?

I am curious about how to animate short legs because in one of my films i will be making requires a lil boy with the short legs running/walking and i want to know how to do this that doesn't require hopping or sliding or anything like that so if you could tell me how to i would really appreciate it!:)

I don't quite understand how they did that? Did he replace the legs with 1x1 bricks 0.0
