THE MANiiFEST RESULTS

And here we are everybody. This years' MANiiFEST was absolutely bonkers. 38 Entries, the most of any BricksinMotion/Brickfilms.com summer contest EVER. That's absolutely nuts, especially for such a wacky and weird contest. Sincerely, thank you to everyone who's entered, who's shared your excitement, who's just gone around and shared the vibes. This wouldn't be the community it is without yah.

The judges for MANiiFEST were:

The judging process worked as follows: each judge watch every film, and thereafter ranks their personal top 15 films. Once each judge made their own personal lists, they were all run through an instant-runoff voting system that creates a ranking of all the films based on each judge's placements in their list. The judges then discussed the resulting top 10 list and adjusted until they came to a consensus satisfaction with the outcome.

The judges primarily considered, in ranking their films, how well each film works as a whole artistic work. Judging a contest as open-ended as MANiiFEST - or really, any contest ranking art or any other subjective medium - by a concrete rubric is biggy dumb-dumb, as a wise old man once said. Our primary concern was how well a films' component parts - its narrative, its style of animation/visuals, originality, thematic conceit and its interpretation/embrace of the MANiiFEST contest "spirit" - add up to a cohesive piece of work that pushes boundaries and shows us something different, makes us feel something different!
