For the color mod element, would a minifig holding something count? Example: black hand holding a white hammer

Yes.
Another question concerning the color mod element: Would a black piece simply leaning against a white piece count?

Yes, just as long as the black piece touches the white piece at some point in the shot.
wow I totally forgot about this, maybe I can try something tomorrow (aaahhh really university killed almost all of my freetime)
Wow, my first attempt at a brickfilming competition!
Just a quick question about submission: Can the film be published later elsewhere after the competition is over? That is, could I make it so that it was available in a location other than the one given in the submission email? I'm having trouble setting up a YouTube account at the moment, so might have to use a temporary account of some kind this time, but later want the entry to be on the main one.
Hope this makes sense.
Yes you can do whatever you want after the contest.
Can we post "making of" photos on Instagram before competition deadline?

5 entries have been accepted so far!
Awesome! They’ll be flooding in soon
I have a few shots in my video where the mod element is there, but blends in with something else so that you can't tell it's there very well. Is that ok?

Probably best to send some behind the scenes pics to show it better
