Topic: Chain Saw Mascara

https://i.imgur.com/CO831UK.jpg

The movie begins like many of it's kind do, with a group of young adults far away from home
driving off to a vacation in a cabin in the woods.
Then, along the way they go somewhere they shouldn't have, which leads to them getting stalked by a bizzare woman.

This movie isn't going to be about winning prizes or anything like that (though i wouldn't be opposed to it, haha)
It's about prooving that Lego/Brickfilms can be just as disturbing as live action movies. mini/wink

My partner is helping me produce it, while i'm writing, animating, and playing the music.
With the size of the project and how much i've worked so far, i'am looking at October 2019 release if all goes well.
I'am planning on keeping this thread updated with wip, behind the scenes stuff, and music as i move ahead.

I also hope i'm posting this in the right section and apologize if i didn't. mini/lol

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

I love your goal for this film. LEGO being an innocent and beloved toy makes it that much harder to pull off horror brickfilms, but clearly that's exactly why you're doing this! Best of luck!

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Great poster! Far better than most brickfilm posters. Have you put this in the poster thread?
Great title too, I can't help hoping for a little kitsch with a title like that!
Break a leg!

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Thanks a lot to both of you for the kind words, i really appreciate them.

Have you put this in the poster thread?

No, i couldn't find it, used the search and everything, that's why i ended up making this thread,
if you had a link on hand, i would be more than happy to do so tough!

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Here's the main theme for the movie, which i hope serves an indication for the tone and level of kitsch i'm going for. mini/wink

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

That is a great poster. Seems like the kind of thing that will appeal to me, so I will be keeping an eye out for it.

Frame from the first trailer which will be released at the end of the month.
It's going to be presented like a news story, with a reporter at the site of the crime.

Noise, blur, and color adjust were digitally added.

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Cool theme music, very John Carpenter!

Figured i should post this here aswell, since i screwed up and posted the trailer topic with the wrong account.
Just dropped the first teaser trailer for the movie, i had to slightly rework the news segment idea and went for a nightmarish police, crime scene photo slideshow.

I only finished the editing and VO earlier today, so far work is coming along nicely, but slow.
I'am still aiming for a October release, preferably the 31st, of course.

We're not dead!
The scope of this movie keeps getting bigger in all areas.

The other day i set up this shot inside a service station when i realized the complications of having the car in there while animating.
It was too heavy for the hook i had it initially attached to, and it took up too much space for anything to fit underneath,
but the car is a important part of this setup, so what to do?

Then i got the idea to super impose the car into the scene digitally, the result of this test is what you see above,
i wouldn't mind some feedback on if the effect looks seamless enough.

And here i got the second trailer.

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

I have to admit, I'm not generally a fan of bloody brickfilms but this looks neat!
Consider me hyped.

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Thank you, i really appreciate that.

Here's some storyboards as a preview, and to keep everyone in the loop.

unfortunately i also have to announce that i won't be able to keep October release date i had aimed for,
as my real job got in the way too much over the last two months, i'am trying to squeeze in work on the movie where i can though.
I hope that the delay won't be too long, but i can't give an estimate at the moment.
I'll keep everyone updated with more behind the scenes content in the mean time.

I thank everyone for the positive reaction i've gotten, without you guys i would've given up months ago.

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Loving the behind the scenes content. Look forward to more updates.

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Thanks a lot, mate. I've been thoroughly enjoying your Aftermath series aswell, one of the reasons this is going to take longer is because you inspired me to implement voice acting, so i curse and thank you, but mostly thank you. mini/lol

Dropping a compilation of alternative poster designs while i'm at it.

I'm glad I could help lol.
If you need any voice work I'm available.
Love the poster designs.

Re: Chain Saw Mascara

Thanks, i'd love to take you up on that when i'm done writing the dialouge,
i did the voice for the reporter in the first trailer, though i'm not that good,
but i can offer you custom artwork or music in return for your services.

Alternate titles and logo designs. This project started getting serious in 2017 with it's first design.
But i had already written a story that is basically the basis for this one back in 2009 or there abouts, titled "A Mother's Lonely Heart".
Since that first story so much about it has changed though that they aren't compareable anymore, and neither would the title fit.
Even over the last few months of production the tone has shifted slightly, as reflected by the german titles.

Der Tot kommt Geschminkt - Death wears make-up.
and
Gequält und zu Tode Geschändet - Tortured and violated to death.

They are from when the movie was supposed to be purely about shockvalue and was only meant a vehicle to create controversy to generate publicity for me.
While the movie in it's current state still has a lot of these elements in tact, they are not as overt and my perspective has definetly tilted towards making it actually a good movie aswell, up until this point i've spent over 350 euros for this production and that only takes into account the amount of time between the creation of this thread and right now.
