Topic: General Lens

hello again! I was wondering if there was a general lens people used for brick filming. Or if the standard kit lens is what most use?

Re: General Lens

A lot of people use the standard Canon kit lens for their Canon DSLRs, but there are some manual lenses to look out for if you plan on purchasing one.

Sloth compiled a list here:

But I personally have a vintage Nikkor 28mm lens and a Helios 44-2 58mm lens (along with Vivitar macro filters and the appropriate lens adapters) for my camera. Both are pretty cheap lenses to find on eBay. They're prime lenses of course so they don't zoom. Of course, thrift stores may also have cheap vintage lenses (though try not to get something poor quality). Basically, manual lenses are the best lenses to get because the aperture ring is on the lens itself, allowing you full manual control. And since most modern lenses use digital elements to determine the aperture and such, it's better and also more cost effective to find vintage lenses on Amazon. And Nikkor is just a highly recognized brand for that.

But again, the Canon kit works for a lot of people and I'm sure Canon's nifty fifty would also work too.
