Topic: WELCOME TO DARKWOOD production log

Hello everyone
for the past year or so, I have been working on a spin-off, fanfilm, AU (however you want to call it) of Squid's long awaited film "WELCOME TO DARKMOOR" (yes I have permission). Anyway, I'm going to be posting frames and BTS pics on this thread from time to time to get you all updated with my progress in the project.
here are a few final/raw frames from scenes I already shot. mini/bigsmile

and here's what hopefully would be the thumbnail of the video

The film is not even half done so don't expect it to come out anytime soon.

Pics look great, especially the thumbnail. I still have to figure out how to make proper thumbnails myself. Is the thumbnail an actual production frame, that's in the movie, or is it completely "staged"?

it's an actual frame that looked decent enough to be the thumbnail mini/tongue

What will come first, the film, or the fan film inspired by it? mini/wink

Re: WELCOME TO DARKWOOD production log

Lokkig great!
I noticed the title similarities right off the bat and wasn't sure what to expect. So far, you've blown me away.

The lighting and set design rival the quality of Darkmoor and it's pretty awesome knowing we'll get even more Squid inspired awesomeness in the near-ish future.

Are you working just on what we all know about Darkmoor, or do you have access to the script to get a better idea of the characters/setting? Also, what lead you to create the spin-off?

But Endfilms does have a good question! mini/lol

I don't have access to the script but I do know a few things that spoil parts of the movie, lol.
Either way, this doesn't connect directly to darkmoor, think of the cloverfield movies for example, all of them exist in the same universe and have elements that reference each other, but the characters and plot are completely different.
As for your second question, read below

I really like movies  that have this creppy gothic style, films like corpse bride and nightmare before Christmas were some of my favorite movies as a kid.
So when I found out about Squid's darkmoor project, It felt like the perfect combination of the kind of movies that I love and the hobby that I love (brickfilming obvs). mini/bigsmile

Re: WELCOME TO DARKWOOD production log

Hey guys, sorry for not updating for a while.
I'm currently really busy with college and don't have a lot of time to animate; however, that doesn't mean I stopped working on the project, it just means that I'm making progress at a slower pace.
Here's an edited frame
