Keeping forgetting about Brickfilmers Guild Podcast which is great.
Also I do like Frame100 podcast but I don't listen to it often.

I'm also Bappy on Discord for those wondering.

Re: Music That Inspires You

Oh... I feel motivated by epic movie scores. John Powel's movie soundtracks are quite well done. I also like songs from musicals. I listen to the Newsies songs a lot. I also listen to Theedville from The Lorax quite often.

Re: Music That Inspires You

Almost any movie score by John Williams is a wonder to behold. Schindler’s List especially hits me right in the heart.

Re: Music That Inspires You

Ben Prunty's soundtrack for FTL is nice and relaxing.
That's what I use!
This is where you can give a listen! "Federation" is my favorite

Re: Music That Inspires You

Wow awesomepants, that soundtrack is awesome. Just gave some of it a listen. Is the game it soundtracks good as well?

A truly inspirational soundtrack. I get goose bumps every time I hear it.]

^ Can't believe I missed that post. I, too, am a big James Newton Howard fan (especially his earlier stuff), Atlantis being a personal favorite of mine. The soundtrack is just as good as the film IMO - which is already top!

Recently, I caught a few live performances by Cotton Mather on youtube. I hadn't listened to any of their stuff in a few years, so hearing a bit again was really refreshing. Going back through their whole catalog now. mini/tongue

Some other jams I think are great are those old Cartoon Network groovies that would play on the main network and Boomerang, especially around the early 2000's. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but hey, isn't Lego to some degree?

Edit: Kinda cool reading back through this thread to see how some members (myself included) have shifted musical preferences over the years. - At least whilst animating/scripting/editing. mini/smile

very much so!
In fact, I am adapting it into a brickfilm as we speak!

Re: Music That Inspires You

Oh cool! That's awesome. Never adapted a video game into a brickfilm myself...I think. Also, those Cartoon Network Groovies look interesting Dyland. Anyways, I got some music for you folks:

This band, Solid Space, is an oddity. They released one record in 1982 I believe. It was called "Space Museum." It's really odd synthpop/electronic type stuff. I heard the entire record was produced mostly with a guitar, sax, Casio keyboard, and Boss drum machine. Whether or not that's true however is irrelevant. What is of concern to you fine folks is the sheer quality of this low fidelity recording. Which in itself is a contradiction. So enough talk, give it a listen if you're curious.

I'm not at all ashamed to admit I've been listening to an absurd amount of Carly Rae Jepsen lately, particularly her latest album "Emotion" and the B-Sides EP that goes along with it. I'd never thought I'd say it but she's honestly one of my absolute favorite music artists, right there under Daft Punk in my top 2.

It's hard to describe but her beats and vocals are just so infectiously incredible, it's pop music perfected. Her lyrics weave between souring optimism and a deep seething misery DISGUISED as the former. And ever since I read screenwriter Max Landis' 100 odd page essay on the underlying narrative behind Carly's songs I've only grown to love her discography even more.

If you'd like to get into this wicked hot fire, some of my personal faves are Lets Get Lost, Gimme Love, Store, and BODY LANGUUAAAAAGE WILL DO THE TRICK, IF YOU STAY WITH ME TONIGHT, THEN WE'LL TALK IT OVAAAAAAAAA

She should have a new album out in a few months and I gotta indoctrinate more folks into my very funky cult
