The cinematography looks excellent. Looks like a grittier tone too with a couple of those shots. I can't wait to see this!

Thank you! I worked hard on getting the shots right, and the praises are to me a huge achievement.

As for the grittiness of the movie, I can confirm that the content advisory will be of "strong violence". Violence will be present through the film (expecially in the first and the third act), with a fair amount of gore. There's also some strong language, which makes the film appropriate for a 13+ audience.
I am committed to keep this course of action. I just hope that this and the considerably extended lenght of the film won't decrease the potential audience of viewers.

Thank you for saying that! I hope that the final product will be appreaciated as much as these frames!

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

No, this project is not dead, It was just briefly freezed while I had other Brickfilm and live-action projects to work on.

No western lacks a saloon scene. Well, that's not entirely true (see The Good, The Bad and The Ugly), but Day of Vengeance still has its own saloon scene. I shot this scene a month ago (I'm about two or three scenes ahead now).

The fully built filmset. The Tan wall that can be seen was removable, so I could access the characters interacting behind the yellow glass (you will see that perspective in the film frames I'm posting further down). The design follows the standard western saloon look, with the staircase and the upper level reserved to the rooms for 'escorts'.

A closer look to the lighting system. My original plan was to solely use the light provided through the glowing lamp, but that proved to be unsufficient, hence I also used that other light that can be seen.

A few film frames:

These first two are part of the same rotating shot, a !@#$ I was particularly happy to achieve.

Yes, there will be a piano tune composed for the scene!

This scene is the conclusive scene to part I out of III of Day of Vengeance, so right now I'm at about half in photography of part II. The completed part I lasts 11 minutes. Keep in mind that Day of Vengeance, even if divided in three parts when released, is an unitary film. To some, Part I might seem to end abruptly, and the 2-3 minutes opening credits (which are quite dinamic and include some wonderful shots of each of the characters travelling) might seem too much, but, keep in mind that DoV should be a 30-ish minutes film, with the part until the saloon scene being just the first part. I hope this won't be misunderstood.
That's it for now! Be sure to check back for future updates!

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

Today's post is a scene I consider important for the film, although it's really just a dialogue scene. It's kind of the fireplace scene (even though there's a nother brief one later on.

The lighting system. Camera setting allowed me to make the frames darker.

Light for the fireplace, closer look:

I built the set with modules I could take off when I needed to move closer with my camera:

That's it for now! This scene is central to part II of III. Soon I'll post other sets and interesting pics.

Thank you, I like it a lot too!
I must say it turned out better than ever, also thanks to the equipment I bought for the film.

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

There are a few news and announcements.

News #1: just ordered from bricklink the minifigs I will require for the unionist army.

News #2: the casting call for day of vengeance is now open

News #3: I already cast some of the roles with people I know outside of BiM. I required italians for most of these roles As they required a pseudo-hispanic accent. Here they are:

due to various reasons, I chose to keep the role of mormon for myself (I'm Viktor Toth)

Pietro Zenezini is Sancho.

Lorenzo Roiatti is Tuco.

Nico Guerra is bandit.

That's it for now, stay tuned and take a look at the trailer.

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

It is with immense pleasure that I announce the casting of Ben Stemen (Isenbold) as Venegful!

Together with this announcement, I also announce the casting of Nico Guerra, a voice actor that's outside of BiM, as Native! He already voiced a bandit (whose only line is essentially a noise), and his talent will make sure that the double cast won't be much of an issue.

Latsly, my friend Sebastian Scopa, who already voiced Stalker in Stalker: Mirror of Conscience, will take the role of a character called the Repented. There are still available roles! be sure to check on the Casting Call page.

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

Part I is now out! Take a look through the Releases page or through the direct link! Be sure to rate!

While part I is out, most of the film is still in production. Therefore, I will be constantly updating also this page with the new shots!

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

Hey everyone! I'm not dead!
I had my final exam, which is why I practically did nothing concerning Day of Vengeance for a while, even though animation is 75% complete. There's only some post-production left, and the final scene to animate, which I intend to do in the next two weeks. Around October-November I will be moving from home due to University, which means that Day of Vengeance might as well be my last brick film (at least in a while).

There's plenty of scenes and sets I haven't shown (in my opinion, the best ones I've built for a brickfilm), which I will post in the next weeks.

Here's the first ones: the abandoned mine, and the cemetery of a village:

I think both appear in the trailer. The cemetery set was built in correlation with a village square set: both sets feature the same church.

I'll be soon showing more recent sets that I'm very proud of!

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

I'm glad to see you're back to work on the series. I enjoyed the first part a lot. I am aware I've still to record a couple of lines for you. Let me know when you need them.

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

Photography for Day of Vengeance is finished!

I'll be completing post-production the next few days, and then will finally release the film, worst case scenario, next week.

I still haven't shown one of my favorite film sets: the canyon.

It took some effort but I set out to find every single tan or dark tan brick I had in my collection, only to discover that I actually have a huge amount. This allowed me to build the biggest film set of the western, but also my personal biggest filmset:

Soon I'll be heading to the last or semi-last post as for production pictures of the film!

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

Stunning!

Can't wait to see the finished film. It's been forever since a brickfilm has attempted the scope of America: Outlawed - but this one seems like it certainly is up to that caliber!

Woah!!! I feel deeply honoured for that comparison!

I am not a perfect animator, so I doubt the quality of my film will be anywhere mear Outlawed. I hope the finished work won’t be a letdown. Rest assured, now that I know that there is some high expectations for this film, I immediately started working with extra effort and care on its completion! Thank you very much!!

Re: Day of Vengeance (Western) Production Log

Post production on Day of Vengeance is done!

Tomorrow, Saturday the 22nd 2018, Part II will be released.

On Sunday the 23rd Part III and the full version of the movie will be simultaneously released.

Go take a look back at Part I to refresh your memory, rate and discuss on the directory page!

While I know this announcement is out of place on a thread focusing on film production, I find it needless to open a new topic only for this announcement. I will still be posting pictures for some of the film sets that I still didn't show after the release.
