Topic: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Hello everyone.

Social media is a major pillar in the Internet community.  For a small niche like ours, it is a way to help bring exposure (and sometimes views) to the many talented animators we have.  That is the goal of BiM's Facebook Page and Twitter handle.  Our current approach has been the weekly #FeaturedBrickfilm.  We've also showcased frames that you've shared with us and I've been reposting articles from our featured articles blog section.  We'd like to share more from you guys.  Is there anything you'd like us to share, like your current project, your animation setup, some behind-the-scenes, or perhaps someone's animation or channel you think needs more views and subscription?

There's plenty of brickfilms to choose from.  My focus is on photos (these get the most views), articles, anything happening in the brickfilming community that you'd like to be posted/tweeted on social media.  It could even be your own content.  No shame in that, it's our goal to get you more exposure.

And while you're at it, if you feel like contributing to, say, our social media's profile pic and banner (like seasonal backgrounds, vignettes or your design of BiM's logo) or ideas for content, share it here.

We'll review the things you share and schedule them for posting as we see fit.

Thank you in advance.

This is a gif I made from an animation test I did for my current projects, gifs were basically made for social media right?

If anyone wants clips made into gifs that might be good fodder for the channel.

Also this stuff Mr Mingle showed on the demo reel thread is out of this world, but those aren't publicly shared YouTube links maybe wait for him to pick one and publicly post it.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Love that gif Sloth! Speaking of gifs, here's a brick-built-puppet walk cycle test I did a little while back that you're free to share.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

GIFs and memes are certainly welcomed.  I'll have to review how gifs work on Facebook.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

You have to post them on an outside site like giphy and link directly to the URL and they will playback just fine.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Thanks Sloth.

Here's a request: March 2 is Dr. Seuss's birthday.  I was thinking we showcase literacy-inspired brickfilms for the month of March. If you have frames of characters reading and/or brickfilms you know of that are literacy-based (aside from those already film franchises), like Poe, Shakespeare, or any classical literature, share them so we can compile them.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Not going to lie, the first thing that popped into my head when I read "literary brickfilms" was this.

Retribution (3rd place in BRAWL 2015)

&Smeagol      make the most of being surrounded by single, educated women your own age on a regular basis in college
AquaMorph    I dunno women are expensive

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

This was actually the first thing that popped into my head

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

There was that brickfilm based on The Heart of Darkness from way back when. Can't remember what it was called or who it was by, but someone around hear will know. I remember it receiving a lot praise.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

EDIT: Nevermind. I don't know what I'm talking about mini/dizzy Penta's got it.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

I'm guessing you're thinking of Good Company (I actually prefer this version to Redux)

I'll come up with a few suggestions and post again soon.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

One of my favourite brickfilms of all time is Faithless, but I don't think there's a copy of the video on YouTube!

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Faithless isn't based on pre-existing literature, as far as I know.

Here are some suggestions:

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

Thank you sillypenta for the list of book-related brickfilms.  Thank you bataton.  We'll schedule your pic for posting in the future.

Coming up in May is May the 4th be with you.  I'd like to dedicate that month to Star Wars frames and videos.  Plenty of Star Wars videos out there but it's a lot to sift through.  I have some in mind but feel free to share the exceptional and classic brickfilms you know of.  As for frames, not a lot of Star Wars frames out there so if you've done a Star Wars flick and got frames to share, share them here.

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

You can't celebrate May the 4th without mentioning Fancy Pants' The Force Unleashed!

Re: BricksinMotion Social Media Content

I've made a collection of some pretty cool star wars brick films on YouTube so I'll sift through them this weekend and see if there any outstanding ones that I think should be given a moment in the limelight mini/smile also I might be able to contribute to the lack of star wars frames, but we'll see mini/smile

Who even reads this?

Indeed.  But there's so many contenders for the May 4th posting, who shall get that honor?  Debate!
