Here's my new song. It's very short, but was just fiddling with the appregator (spelling?) of a certain instrument

Re: Post Your Music!

This is Tinnitis' newest song, "What Happened to Jane?"  It's an industrial/EBM song.  It sounds like 1980s Nitzer Ebb but the lyrics are about modern trends!

Re: Post Your Music!

Wow, that's pretty beautiful, Guy. I'm a sucker for smooth piano, especially in film soundtracks. I often compose my own songs in piano first before converting it to orchestra, just for this reason. Great job!

Hey guys, I'm writing a short symphony in 5/4 for an exam, could really use some feedback on my harmonies in the opening: https://soundcloud.com/john-denno/maria … ning-draft

Re: Post Your Music!

First also, i love 5/4 time signature!

secondly, I really find it moving.  Is the entire piece going to written for brass, or are you composing one section at a time?

Re: Post Your Music!

Thanks! The brief is to write a sub-8-minute piece with related 3 sections. I'm a brass player myself, so I decided to write for brass band, but in a bit of a Latin American style. What I posted the other day was the opening section, which I've entitled 'The Spanish Conquest'. The second section (now in a mix of 5/8 and 11/8) is called 'Thursday Morning in Mexico City' and is much more lively, uses a lot of percussion and has a bit of guitar in: https://soundcloud.com/john-denno/thurs … city-draft

I've not started the third section yet, but I thinking of maybe calling it 'Siesta'

Re: Post Your Music!

11/8.  Another time signature I love.  I wrote a piece in mixed 4/4 + 3/8 time (11 eighth notes per measure) for the only music theory class I ever took.  The same time signature appears in a totally unrelated classical piece I wrote around then during my minimalist phase.  I'm trying to think of the name of it but I can't.  I actually wrote the piece to get some practice.  I wanted to write something that had an ever-changing meter, made so dynamic so that natural human speech can be set to it.  Since natural human speech isn't rhythmic and even-metered, this music would flow just as naturally as the speaking itself.  I never pursued it further because I moved into an industrial phase then.

I wish I could remember the name of the composition.  I'll have to dig out my old 4-track cassette recordings and look it up.  I've got about 40 tapes of pretty experimental material.

BTW, I have one song with a bit of Latin flair.  It's got a calypso beat and piano rhythm.  The song's called "Lazer Tag".  I only recorded a demo and several live versions, because I could never find someone who plays the guitar "in Spanish" for the official album recording.  I intend to post it to bandcamp, along with some other songs, soon.

I'd love to hear them, be sure to let us know when you do!

Re: Post Your Music!

This is the soundtrack of my S&S entry Lennard's Dreams. It was composed by JonnDThundr. I was so pleased with his work, especially on the  last piece. He really deserves the recognition, because he really helped complete my film. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Xhv7TcwKM

Hi,

Here is a great source for quality background music for your video projects: http://gerrymusic.com
Let me know what you think...

Re: Post Your Music!

The piano bass is a bit influenced by Hans Zimmer's Man of Steel theme, but otherwise, I think I did a good job of capturing the feelings one gets when reading of early America. Think American Revolution meets Louisiana Purchase meets Millard Fillmore meets Gettysburg Address. The inspiration was mostly from the feelings I had since this year was the first time I was able to vote on a presidential election. Gotta love that suffrage!

Re: Post Your Music!

It's amazing what just two chords can do, or rather, what you can do with two chords.

Yes, that piano line is very simple and Hans Zimmer-like, and I believe mixing the revolution style drums/flute with this calming piano is very unique. Very good.

Re: Post Your Music!

i hear a hint of Beatles in the "tron" instruemnt choir voice... elegant, emotional piano playing.

Thank you for the new sound based on my work.  As said earlier in the thread, the original version of Blue Ghost's song is here, with a 1987 Nitzer Ebb vibe:
