Topic: Apollo 11 landing in lego - production log

This is going to be a production log for my next brickfilm recreating the Apollo 11 landing. I got all the storyboards done and am currently working on set and prop design so I don't have much more for you, but here's a picture of Neil and Buzz. mini/smile

Re: Apollo 11 landing in lego - production log

Are you going to add visors?

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Apollo 11 landing in lego - production log

Haven't really decided if I like them better on or off due to the fact of how the visors sits on the helmet.

Re: Apollo 11 landing in lego - production log

I go for off.  Remember that unless you're going for total realism, which isn't practical for brickfilming, Lego is an impressionistic representation of real life.

Finally finished the spacecraft I think it turned out pretty good. Just got to finish the set and then I should be able to get quite a bit of animation done this week.   mini/smile

And as for the visorI've decided to go with it off.

Haven't gotten much animating done lately. Should get a good amount done these next couple days though. Currently about 30% of animation is finished. mini/smile

Got a lot of animating done today sitting at about 70% completion. Hoping I can get the trailer out within the next week!:)

Re: Apollo 11 landing in lego - production log

The project is finally finished and I'm pretty satisfied with the result mini/smile

I originally wanted to get this project out before school started in the middle of August, that didn't happen because once school started other projects( A music video sequel to hamilton is on the way if anybody is interested) started to take over and put this on the back burner. A couple scenes were cut and there was also a few shots that I feel needed reshoots that I didn't get to because I felt as if I needed to finish the project or else it wouldn't get done anytime soon. Overall I feel like I learned a tremendous amount from the film and as this was my first brickfilm I don't think it was too shabby... It's only up from here! mini/smile

Let me know what you think, I would love to hear any feedback you guys have!

Re: Apollo 11 landing in lego - production log

It looks very nice! I like the classic space suits. The only thing that bugged me was how dim it is on your moon set. Apollo 11 landed in the middle of the lunar day, and the moon's surface is very reflective, so it should be very bright on the surface. Other than that I think you did a really good job wit this. I'm always a fan of space brickfilms mini/wink
