Re: Drawings and other Art

Just found this forum and thought I should share some artwork of mine. Here is a drawing of The Killing Joke Graphic Novel cover I made a couple years ago and the process of making it.

Very nice! It kind of has a minimalist look to it. Especially with your use of colors.

My profile picture is deep fried lol

Here's another so-so line art computer drawing, this one of Skylor from LEGO Ninjago, drawn as a human rather than a minifig. Drawn in an afternoon for a little contest I had with rioforce.

That's an awesome drawing, Brickcrazy! I'm too ashamed to show my version at the moment haha, you totally beat me in our little contest. The line work is fantastic as well as the proportions. I look forward to seeing more stuff from you!

Re: Drawings and other Art

I managed to draw a reasonably decent drawing of Gregory from Riigo-Faloo:

Gregory previously appeared in my brickfilm Sharks and Clowns as Gregory McSharkyson.  In Riigo-Faloo, Gregory is one of the primary characters.  He works for a very large company called the Jaguar Corporation, which deals in almost every sort of service possible.  Gregory's job as a Jaguar agent is to deal with the more dangerous services his company offers, in particular, protecting the company from Riigo-Faloo's largest organized criminal enterprize: the Ministry of Theft.

This is the first time I've managed to draw a Faloovian shark where the shark head doesn't looks too out of place upon the humanoid shoulders.  I had to spend some time practicing over the past few days before I got it okay.

Re: Drawings and other Art

I really like that, Squid. Especially that suit, I want one.

Re: Drawings and other Art

Thanks!

I'd really like a suit like that as well.  I wish tailcoats were more popular.

Edit:

Here's another Faloovian character I drew:

This is Twilig Twolintwil, a Lavender Clown.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Drawings and other Art

Woah! That is so awesome. Are you sure you're not secretly a master artist that's pretending to be a brickfilmer? O_O

Thanks, guys! This was a really fun project to work on and I'm very pleased with the result.

Re: Drawings and other Art

I used to draw a lot when i was younger but haven't drawn anything in a long time.

Lots of great work in this thread, happy to see lots of talent here. mini/smile Inspired me to break out the pencils and find a spare notebook to draw some doodles again. Practice makes perfect, so no time like the present.

Everyone can draw.  Get the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" and you will be able to in weeks!

Anyone can draw.  Even if it's simple, it is still a drawing.  Just don't give up and keep trying, and eventually you with has some skill.

Re: Drawings and other Art

A fun way for beginners to draw is the the books by Ed Emberley.  IT's all flat and cartoony, but he has you turn simple shapes into drawings.  And the book was witty.  It's geared toward children, but don't let that stop you if you're don't think you can draw.

If you have a bit of experience, I recommend Lee J. Ames books.  All of these are on eBay.  For something more modrn, there's Christopher Hart, who does anime-inspired and other cartoonish art, which is a good stepping stone between novice and advanced drawing.
