Topic: Best Computer?

Hello, I'm looking at buying a new computer because my old one is too slow to run the newest programs I buy. I'm not sure what to get yet. I'm look for something that has at least 4gb of ram and at least 500gb of memory space and my budget is $500. Anyone got any suggestions? By the way, the computer will be used for animating and editing my animations.

Re: Best Computer?

If you plan on working with HD video, I recommend getting at least 8GB of RAM.
I also suggest storing project files on an external/second hard drive instead of the boot/software drive.
One thing you could look for is a Used computer from major manufacturer (my personal favorites are Apple, HP, & Toshiba)
that way you might be able to get a faster computer for the money.
also, study the requirements of the software you are interested in running and try to get something that exceeds them by a noticeable amount,
also, try to avoid any computer that has an Intel HD3000 as its only graphics card because it just isn't fast enough to run a lot of video software (and games).
Hope this helps,
-Mark

Re: Best Computer?

This may seem intimidating at first, but the best method of finding a computer for the best price/performance is to build one yourself. There are lots of resources online to learn how to do this, and you'll feel quite proud of yourself in the end for accomplishing something of the sort. I recommend checking this resource out to get you started, and if you go through with it you won't regret it:
