Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Anyone else think there is similarity between Rey and Finn's parting and Anakin's parting from his mother in Ep 1?
"We'll see each other again... I believe it."
If my musings are correct, that could be a bit of tasteful foreshadowing, indicating that next time Rey and Finn meet, Finn will die, just like Anakin and his mother. I realize that's a stretch, but I'd be interested in other people's opinions.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I'm not sure they would kill off Finn at least until the third film. I find very similar patterns in the Star Wars hero's journey. The first one is generally the loss of a mentor (Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Han Solo), the second is the loss of a loved one. For the previous films it was Shmi and Luke's Uncle and Aunt. This is the turning point for the hero where he or she decides weather they will follow the Dark Side or Light. When looking at the other films the loved one was in one way or another a parental figure, so could it be Luke if he is indeed Rey's father? We'll have to wait and see.

I really don't think Finn is going to die in the sequel trilogy though, but rather in the (in my opinion inevitable) final trilogy as the mentor figure. I also think Finn is the Han Solo of this current trilogy in that we won't ever know his full history in the films, similar to the other mentors in the saga that we've seen at a younger age (Obi-Wan and Han Solo).

They died in the first of Luke's story though.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

That is true, which is why I said "generally" in regards to my order. But yes, they did die before Ben did, which makes Luke's journey much more powerful and shows how much stronger he was compared to Anakin in my opinion.

I don't know if anyone here caught it, but when Maz tells Rey that there is one who still could come back (to Rey on Jakku). Rey whispers 'Luke', (I've seen the film 3 times and I can confirm this) and we know she's waiting for her family on, Jakku. So this for me pretty much confirms she's Luke's daughter.

Nope

I'm sorry but I don't understand how that excludes Luke? Please explain.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Did you notice that Rey (on Jakku) eats with her mouth open?

maybe they didn't have time for manners before dropping her off.

I don't understand how it confirms Luke is the father.  It's still up in the air.

Fair enough.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Just saw it. Wow, I loved it. I was so shocked by Han"s death, but I did expect it as soon as he met Kylo Ren. I think Ren is a much crueler man than Vader. Vader is much more calm and reasonable in comparison to him. He is a very unexpected, practically insane person, which makes him that much darker. I think the whole cast were brilliant.

Yes, But the planet he was on, Starkiller blew up. Do you think he would survive getting stabbed, falling to his death and blowing up? Besides, Harrison Ford was getting old and they had to take him out.

I also agree with William Osborn. Kylo Wren was a lot more evil than Darth vader

It's not like Darth Vader killed a bunch of young kids in the Jedi temple or anything. mini/wink

I think Darth Vader (in episodes IV through VI) is just older and more mature. Kylo Wren is just a young immature adult who throws temper tantrums because he can't be like Darth Vader.

Yeah I Forgot about Darth Vader doing that. mini/wink

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I think the perception of evil is relative.

Darth Vader on bad news: Force Choke the messenger to death.
Kylo Ren on bad news: destroy inanimate objects with his lightsaber.

I'm with Rivvm, Kylo is an immature brat with temper tantrums but values life more than Vader.  You pity Kylo.  You fear Vader.  Admiral Motti lacked faith in the Force, Admiral Ozzel made a careless tactical move, and Captain Needa made a personal apology for not realizing Han Solo pulled a sensor dodging maneuver on him.  All got the Force choke treatment.  And I'm haven't even touch upon Anakin's use of Force Choking in The Clone Wars and on Padme.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Kylo isnt completely evil yet, he still feels the good calling him, but, unlike anakin, he is scared of the light it seems. and he will do anything, even kill his father, to be dark. so, I think we are just seeing the beginning of kylo, where Anakin was in end of ep2.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

oThe Kylo Ren/Vader comparison reminds me so much of ROdimus Prime/Optimus Prime in The Transformers.  Rodimus was the new leader and never thought he could live up to Optimus, always forgetting that the Optimus he was comparing himself to had 9 million years of experience.  Optimus was once like Rodimus.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Does anyone else get the feeling the Luke is probably never going to leave that island? I kinda feel like he is just now going to be like Yoda.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I'd hope not. I want to see Luke at least partially back in action. It would have been difficult because Yoda was a puppet with limited mobility, but hopefully having Mark Hamill back will allow him to accompany Rey on her adventures.

Also, I believe some time will have passed between Episode VII and VIII, which means her training will be ending and she'll be going back out into the galaxy (hopefully with Luke).

I'm not worried about episode 8 but episode 9 is gonna be directed by Colin trevorrow and...Jurassic world wasn't that good...I'm probably going to regret saying that.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.
