Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I don't see why everyone has to be related to some character from the old ones.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I don't either and yet here we are, with people throwing theories like Finn is Mace or Lando's kid and Rey is Luke's kid or Han and Leia's missing daughter.  I just think it's too simple and obvious to jump to these conclusions.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I believe that Rey was raised as a student of Luke's, but was disabanded whenever he went into hiding when the Knights of Ren were formed. I think that'd be much better than having her be a daughter of Luke or Han or heck even Ackbar if you want to get things really confusing.
Just my two pennies though.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

We know that the British accent is quite a trade mark of the upper class and Imperial/First Order factions of the Star Wars universe so let me throw this out there; Rey has a strong British accent and sure you could just say that it's because Daisy is British, but what if it signifies something else? So here's my thought (though I'm not fully committed to it yet); Rey is the child of Luke Skywalker and Captian Phasma. What other female with such a strong British accent do we know to be alive by this point? If J.J. And co. wanted someone with an American accent they could have definitely cast someone else, but I think the casting of someone who is British is very deliberate. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it was a thought I had while reading though everyone else's opinions.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I'm of the belief that Luke is Rey's daughter, and she got the Posh accent from whoever the mother was. I also believe that Ben Solo murdered Luke's wife and turned some of his students into the Knights of Ren (or at least some of them and murdered the rest, TFA doesn't really specific how many students Luke started to train). The reason I say this is because Kylo Ren isn't really that trained, so why is he the leader of a group? And it's probably because it was he who turned the other students to the Dark Side.

Also, I believe that Kylo Ren is a good amount of years older than Rey, and when Ben Solo became Kylo Ren, Luke dropped off Rey on Jakku and erased her memory. He feared that she would also be seduced, as she would be the most powerful because she is a direct offspring of him.

Or it potentially could be a Kenobi. I wouldn't think so as they want to continue the Skywalker family (and I'm not sure if Ben Solo would qualify). But that being said, it does make some sense, as Ewan McGregor was in the flashback with the voice-over line "these are your first steps..." So it does make some sense that Obi-Wan would send a message to his grand-daughter (I'm assuming).

How about Rey Skywalker-Kenobi?

I'm intrigued, but not sure how that would work. I'm all for seeing a homosexual relationship in Star Wars (if done right) but that's not generally how babies are created. Is there a Skywalker I've forgotten?

Kenobi, after the Purge, met someone, had a daughter, that daughter shacked up with Luke and had Rey.  Rey would be the amalgamation of two great Jedi.  It would explain Rey's incredible Force-attuned abilities.  She could be the second Chosen One.  I believe Rey was what Snoke was referring to.  She awoke, or rather her abilities were activated, from whatever slumber set prior to Episode 7.

That makes a lot of sense. While there isn't a precedent for that kind of detail in the movies (yet, and notice I'm just saying movies here, not referring to any of the other media) I would love for something like this to be the case. I really want Obi-Wan post-RotS to be fleshed out, especially after watching Clone Wars.

Also, I read this interesting article. It's very true: the effect of diverse casting is so subtle, but honestly necessary.

I think you might be. It's just as easy for two unrelated characters to have an English accent (British accent is kind of a fallacy) as it is for them to have an American accent. I'm not saying that there 100% isn't something behind it, but I think it's highly unlikely, especially if it's Luke and Phasma (who, let's face it, is little more than an extra in the final cut of the film).

Make of this what you will: http://makingstarwars.net/2015/12/reys- … inity-3-0/

I'm not committed to Phasma being Rey's mother, but it would certainty be an interesting plot point imo. Imagine it "No Rey, I am your mother!". mini/lol

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I think that Luke is a likely father, but I'd be very surprised if they revealed something like that in the video game seeing how secretive they had been with this movie.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I think Gwendoline Christie's accent is purely coincidental. I'm sure they wanted a very tall female (she's 6'3") who's relatively well-known and has a commanding voice. If we're just going by "UM THERE'S SOMEONE WITH A SIMILAR ACCENT" we could say that Luke had a kid with the grand-daughter of Grand Moff Tarkin.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Rei has memories of an island, where she appears at the end of the movie.  This is where Luke is found.  It could be a clue that she is a Skywalker.  Or she at least saw the temple where he trained young jedi.

Rey also has a doll in her house of an x-wing pilot, the same outfit Luke wore in ep. IV. It's immediately preceded by a shot of a dead flower plant looking thing.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I dont think they are "memories" as she and Kylo thought, but, the force calling to her....

and not forgetting the helmet she wore looked like his a bit...

I think luke + Rey's Mum(name pending) have daughter. Luke leaves Rey with her mum when he goes and does something. maybe even when Kylo turns. luke hides. trying to draw attention away from Rey and her mum.

Someone gets on to reys mum so she leaves drawing them away from jakku.

Kylo then thinks this powerful peasant girl mentioned on Jakku, might be his cousin. whom he has never meet.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Just in case you didn't already figure it out (not a spoiler):

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I figured that, but still felt they where cousins when I was watching 7.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

Rey wore an X-wing pilot's helmet.  I think she has too much of her grandfather in her.

"That's what I'm afraid of."

And to answer why Rey has to be the daughter of anyone, that is true!  Maybe she was conceived by the midi-chlorians.

I think people are referring to her having to be the daughter of any pre-existing characters.

She doesn't, it's true.

I think they're unlikely to retread the prequels and have another Jesus I mean Perseus I mean child of the Force.

Re: Star Wars Episode 7 Spoilerific Thread

I don't know if anyone here caught it, but when Maz tells Rey that there is one who still could come back (to Rey on Jakku). Rey whispers 'Luke', (I've seen the film 3 times and I can confirm this) and we know she's waiting for her family on, Jakku. So this for me pretty much confirms she's Luke's daughter.
