We've concluded the judging process for our summer Darkness & Light animation contest! Many thanks to all of the entrants, the judges, my contest co-runner Nathan Wells, and our contest sponsors:

Without the generosity of companies like Dragonframe and Brickstuff, having great prizes for these contests wouldn't be possible. Both, sincerely, make great products that have a lot of use for brickfilming, and I encourage you to give them a look even if you haven't won something in this competition.

I'd just like to add that we enjoyed watching all 25 entries, and it was neat to see how everyone worked to tell creative stories built around the contest theme this year. There were a lot of neat uses of creative lighting techniques as well as story-driven use of the "darkness & light" theme, which we were happy to see. It wasn't easy to pick a top ten, but that's part of why we don't try to rank *all* of the entries in these contests. The quality of entries is good, and it's just not possible for five judges to reach a consensus on more than a top ten. Thank you again to everybody who made a film for this contest!

I would've liked to see in the end how were the positions under 10, but never mind. Great entries in the top 10, seeing the entries made me want to try improve works on lighting, something I didn't do in my contest entry that much.

Wow Im so completely happy! I can't believe I got in the top ten with so many other amazing brick films! This contest was really cool and I really enjoyed entering, and watching all the other amazing brick films. Huge thanks to every one who made this contest happen!

Also I wasn't here for the chat so its really cool to be able to see it afterwards!

I feel like I got something out of each of the entries, so I'm going to make an effort to post a comment on each of them over the next few days. While winning is fun, I see making the film itself as its own reward. I do want people who enter this contest to feel like their entries are being acknowledge by our community, even if they don't win.

Wow, it's such an honor to win D&L! I'm glad you all enjoyed my film! But enough about me, I want to congratulate everyone else that entered. Entering a summer project (and for that matter making a brickfilm) is a huge accomplishment, and all of the entries were very well done. There were so many awesome entries this year. mini/smile

I'd like to personally thank Smeagol, Nathan, and BiM for hosting this contest, the awesome judges for doing a fantastic and speedy job, the BiM community for helping me learn so much about animation in the past year and a half, and the sponsors for providing neato prizes!

Anyway, that's the end of my speech, I look forward to what's in store in the future! mini/bigsmile

YAY!! When I finished producing The Tree, I wasn't expecting near the support it received. Although it feels pretty good to be in the top 2, it felt even more amazing just reading the encouraging comments and hearing about people's reactions. It also was the most inspiring film that I've ever had the chance to make, with how much time and effort went into each little piece of the film.

That being said, I also want to say a huge congrats to rioforce for his amazing film, as well as all that entered. And thank you, too, for Smeagol, Nathan, the other judges, and the sponsors, who made this possible.

@legoguy501 - Loved yours and thought it was easily #1, but still it's very nice to see yo at #2,great work!

I'm super happy to have been in the top 10 with my first contest entry ever. I only just started doing Lego animations in April of this year so it's encouraging to have made it all. Gratz to everyone who entered and a special gratz to those chosen in the top 10.
