Partly cloudy days are the worst conditions for shooting live action outdoors, because the lighting conditions unavoidably change constantly. It's a constant struggle.

Re: Café Corner

I think it's only really a problem if it's repeated over and over like in that gif. The change is so subtle that it's unnoticeable unless played back.

Re: Café Corner

Right, it wasn't a real problem in the music video. But if you shoot in partly-cloudy light you do have to edit and shoot around it. I've been in the position in a film of mine of having to call action as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud again and then cutting mid-take because it came back out, ruining the take.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

I think he's trying to point out that it's not doing very well with the critics.

Re: Café Corner

The critics mainly seem to take issue with it for being a glorified toy ad. While The Lego Movie was also a glorified toy ad, it had qualities that allowed it to stand out and be more than that (being really funny and occasionally emotional, plus the visuals looked good).

To be fair there are only 7 reviews, I'm sure more show up eventually, and those might make it look better.

Has anyone on the boards actually seen it?

Re: Café Corner

It looks a little dry and advertisement-y; the reviews are about what I expected. But I haven't seen it. I'm probably not in the target audience, because I know a lot about LEGO's history and the AFOL community. I have no desire to learn about those things.

They interviewed Nick Durron and David Pagano for it, and KG and Bricknerd made some stop motion animation! From what I've seen, KG and Bricknerd did great work on it.

It's cool that they got some real, wide-ish distribution for the film. I could only hope for that with the BiM documentary in my wildest dreams. It's a very very different sort of film, though.

Re: Café Corner

I have cancelled the stop-motion I was working on. I haven't finished the script yet and there is going to be an earthquake coming which may stop me from continuing the script. Nobody knows when will the shaking will start, but I have to stop the whole project due to the earthquake. I heard it would be a 7.2 magnitude earthquake and it may make my script pages torn or wrecked, or I might be gone and left to a better place. I do pray that the earthquake would move away from Metro Manila. May the prayer be answered.
