It looks terrible, but being released the day after the second Star Wars teaser did it no favors.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

My thoughts, more or less:

-Moar Inception Rip-Off Trailer Music™
-Who does the voice in the trailer belong to?
-Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne doesn't cut it for me.  I dislike type-casting, and am willing to at least give any actor a chance in the role they've taken, but when I saw Bruce Wayne all I could think was how Ben Affleck-ey he looks.  I can't put my finger on it, but he somehow he just looks off.
-Why are there people wearing skull make-up in a crowd surrounding Superman?
-Iron-Bat
-On the plus side, it's great to see that DC is tackling the consequences and aftermath of the events of Man of Steel, and how ordinary people would logically react if a super-powered being suddenly popped up out of nowhere.  This is something Marvel's films sorely lack.
-I'm also quite interested in the art direction of this film, particularly the shot of the graffitied pillars.  Quite interested to see the style of this film.
-Were those final notes in the trailer a call-back to Nolan's Dark Knight theme?

There are some things that look interesting, but I'm pretty skeptical (particularly regarding Batman), and I'm honestly getting tired of the superhero movie craze in general, so I'm not especially interested in seeing it as of now.

How terrible will it be is the real question.
I'm thinking somewhere in-between "Green Lantern" and "Daredevil" level awful.
With a very small dash of "Batman & Robin" cheesiness.

Releasing the BvS teaser right after the 2nd Star Wars trailer was released…. mini/what
Who the heck thought that was a great idea?

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

Neil Degrasse Tyson's voice was in there near the beginning.  Also, there was someone who sounded like Mrs. Incredible.

I'm not really sure what to think of it, it's just a teaser trailer, and there's not much to go on with that.  Bat's voice sounds weird and modulated.  I'm not really sure what's up with that or if he'll use it a lot.

I'm still pretty interested in seeing it, though.  I'm too big a fan of Batman to let this pass by, and not a big enough fan of Captain America to watch it instead.

As for the timing of the release, if I remember correctly, this teaser was set to be released upon Monday, however, a low quality version leaked early, so I guess that they just decided to go ahead and release it now.  and if they were already planning to release it I doubt that they would postpone it just because an almost entirely unrelated film happened to release a trailer.  Although this timing does seem odd, my guess is that it's merely coincidence.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

Great. One of the best teasers I have ever seen, promptly followed up by one of the worst. This has been quite the week!

I don't even know what to say. First there's this, and now there's this. I don't know what's going on. Nolan is one of my favorite filmmakers of the 21st Century, but he seems to be losing his touch. How can he go and let another Superman movie besmirch his incredible Certified Fresh winning streak?

I personally don't believe it will be quite as bad as Daredevil, but will be worse than Man of Steel, and absolutely nowhere near as atrocious as Fantastic Four. My guess is that it will be DC's equivalent of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The trailer makes me very curious. From what the newscasters/announcers/preachers/whatever are saying, it sounds like the movie is going to put a sort of Incredibles spin on everything, where everyone hate Superman for destroying the city and stuff. Then, Batman will gain a desire to become a Syndrome-type character and win the world's affection by defeating Superman. However, the teaser did a pretty crappy job of trying to convey these ideas, and I'm really not as pumped for this as I am about The Force Awakens. But, I guess that's what happens when a teaser for a highly-anticipated movie is leaked a day after a teaser for another highly-anticipated movie is released. And when are we going to get to see Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor? And if it's supposed to be Batman against Superman, then why is Lex even going to be an antagonist in this movie?

Personally, I think "Chewie, we're home." is a much more exciting line than "[It] turns good men cruel."

Also, "Do you bleed" is going to become more popular of a meme than #sadbatman, and yes that is still a thing.[/predictions]

P.S. Before we get into any "Batman meets Superman" stuff, I'm thinking that I should just leave this here.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

Well, I'm not gona lie, that was kind of a lame teaser. However, simply declaring that it will be terrible is a bit hasty in my opinion. Personally, I sort of like the story ideas they are hinting at for one. Do I think it will deliver? I don't know (and I'm a bit sceptical), but I'm willing to wait and see what people say when it actually comes out.

Um, ... what. Because he doesn't own Batman...?
Unless I am missing something... ?

Here is my remake of the trailer:

Notice how it is garbage with choppy animation? Well, since it is one of the first remakes made of this trailer, I'm curious to see if it will get a massive amount of views, proving my quantity over quality theory.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

The more we were hearing about this movie the more concerned I became, but this trailer assuages some of my fears (not all). One of the things I liked about Man of Steel was that particularly towards the end, it started challenging the imagery of the Superman mythos, which makes it very different from the plethora of other superhero films released each year. BvS looks to be even more so, and while I really want to a Justice League movie that's as fun and escapist as the comics can be, I'm also excited to see a movie that will dig its teeth into the issues of the very notion of a 'superman'. It's not something mainstream cinema's had a proper go at, and it should be interesting to watch.

The only problem is that I still don't get my plain ol' Justice League movie.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

I just realized...

Like Age of Ultron, the first trailer got leaked. I guess Warner Bros didn't want the bootleg getting around, so they just uploaded a HD version. Probably why it here a day after the force awakens trailer

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

As Squid said, that is what happened. They originally planned to release it Monday. I think the timing was questionable either way.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

I rather this thread to be called DC Cinematic Universe so we can talk about all things DC.

Anyways, the first few times I watched the trailer, I didn't like it very much until I watched it in high definition.

It reminds me of the Injustice Gods Among Us storyline: Superman murders a villain and then became a dictator hunting, imprisoning and killing all who opposes him.
Skull make-up must represent his worshippers, the soldiers kneeling must be his soldiers and the statue is either built by America to honour him for what he did for metropolis in Man of Steel, or he just forced people to build one for him. The words "false god" would represent the world's opinion of him.

Superman looks buffer. I liked the looks of the batman's costume but the cyborg-voice doesn't sound fitting.

There's no sign of kryptonite.

Although it has got quite a lot of views, I wouldn't call it a success, but one day is too early to judge.

Re: DC Cinematic Universe

I'm not much of a fan of DC but I thought this film is looking pretty good. I don't think this is something that the Superhero films genre has really seen yet; the impact of a hero like Superman on society, which is hinted at in this trailer. Hopefully they'll pull it off.

Only danger is that they overdo the darkness and grittiness.

Zach Snyder is directing, That's a guaranteed overly dark and gritty film.

What would be truly awesome is that Ben Affleck is an imposter, who dies and is replaced by a returning Bruce Wayne, who is played by Christian Bale. mini/bigsmile

I really hope the Joseph Gordon-Levitt Robin shows up in this movie.

There's literally no reason for him to, since it's an entirely separate universe that MoS/BvS have begun.

But more importantly,

Spoiler (click to read)

He's not Robin. JGL was going to become Batman at the end of Dark Knight Rises; that was literally the whole point of Batman in the Nolan films. Bruce Wayne wanted to create a symbol that any man or woman with the will could take up, as a symbol cannot be destroyed. While Bruce was (arguably) completely consumed by the symbol, despite his original intentions, his vision finally comes true at the end when JGL enters the Batcave. The expectation is for JGL to take on the mantle of Batman, and thus Batman the symbol has become immortal in a way no man can be. His name was Robin as a fun allusion to that, but if he became Robin the superhero it would void a lot of the plot of the trilogy.

Pennyworth didn't sound like Michael Caine so it would be a seperate universe. Any ideas on Pennyworth's actor?
Edit: It seems to be Jeremy Irons...

Alfred's going to be played by Jeremy Irons. It's been confirmed for a while, I think.
