The main message is quite simple, it's that being selfish and cruel has its consequences and that innocence, heroism and helping others has its reward. There's only one swear word, said by the villain (d*mn), but it has a dramatic purpose, because all he says is "darn" all throughout the film, except at one, defining moment (when he turns into a twisted, monstrous version of himself). There is no "oh my god" or taking the Lord's name in vein in any other form. There's some action and mild violence throughout, one alien is shot, but none of it will be shown graphically. There is no adult content.
