Topic: The Screenplay Challenge

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1454/24375076152_25c77b2665_z.jpg

What it is:

This challenge is similar to The Animation Challenge, only instead of doing a short animation you write a short screenplay.

How it Works:

The next judge picks a theme and a deadline.  If you want to participate, write a short screenplay around the theme, upload it to Dropbox or any similar file sharing website, and post a link in this thread.  Once the deadline is reached the judge picks a winner.  That winner becomes the new judge.  The minimum length is 1 page.  The maximum length is 10 pages.  Also you must publicly release your screenplay in this thread.

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

Is there a minimum or maximum length to the script?

This looks pretty fun. I may participate some time.

The original post has been updated to answer your question.

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

This is such a cool idea, I love it. I hope to enter many of these to sharpen my storywriting.

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

I think this needs to be pinned to the top like the Animation Challenge. I'm thinking about entering this.

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

Thank you for this category.  A great first topic!

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

Does the format need to be specifically for Lego? I mean descriptions that would apply to human beings but not for little pieces of plastic.

No.  The screenplay can be written however you please.

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

Here is my entry, entitled "The Divine Pendulum".  It is designed with brickfilming in mind, although whoever animates this would require a large crowd.  Anyone is welcome to reach me if they'd like to animate this.  This is in plain text, and I calculated a 6-page script in txt format (the maximum allowed) as 288 lines of text (not including title page).  Dialogue must be 40 or less chars per line and narration has a limit of 70.

The link is below.  Good luck to all other entrants!

Great entry!

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

I have an idea… I just need to figure out what to do with it.

If you are the first judge, it may be fair to only comment on the scripts themselves after the deadline.  Since this is the first contest, are you the judge?

Good point.  Yes, I am the first judge.

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

I'm anxious to read others' submissions, but no one has as of yet!

Re: The Screenplay Challenge

One Douglass, you will be choosing the topic every time, yes?
