Topic: Music That Inspires You

The topic says it all. What music/artist(s) inspires you to make films or any creative medium? Here are a few that inspire me:

Blur
David Bowie's song Space Oddity
Daft Punk

Re: Music That Inspires You

I have an odd taste in music, some might say but here it goes:

LEGO Universe Soundtrack by Brian Tyler (So nostalgic)
LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV Soundtrack by Jay Vincent (So awesome)
Mozart music occasionally (So classic)
LEGO Racers and LEGO Island video game soundtracks (on rare occasions)

Also, Smile On.

The Interstellar and Gravity soundtracks are pretty good.

YEAH, that's my jam!

Actually, this is already a topic yes?  Plus, it was asked in Cafe Corner recently.

These two are ones in my animating playlist:

E.V.A. by Jean-Jacques Perrey.  This is such a catchy groove:

Memphis Tennessee by Silicon Teens.  This is the music video:

Here's one more by Silicon Teens, if you're one of th newly-addictied:

Re: Music That Inspires You

I don't have too much music I like that inspires me to make a film, but if anything, I'd have to say different kinds of house, melodic dubstep, trance, and stuff like that really gets me going the most.

Here are a few examples:

THE FALL by Seven Lions & Xilent

BELOW US(feat. Shaz Sparks) by Seven Lions

ONCE LYDIAN by Andrew Bayer

I guess I'm inspired by some alternative music as well.

HALF MAST by Empire of the Sun

Other than that, I'm inspired by various soundtracks, (more obviously), but yeah. You guys are welcome to give these a listen for yourself.

Re: Music That Inspires You

I mostly listen to stuff like the Xenoblade soundtrack among other things while animating, but Nujabes is always pretty inspiring. One or two bad words in that Nujabes song.

Re: Music That Inspires You

Aww, come on. No one else is jammin' to Buddy Holly, The Beatles, and Queen?

Humph! mini/tongue

Specifically this is what's been my jam the past few weeks:
Nowhere Man - I think a lot of people can relate when they're up late animating alone.
Rave On
Under Pressure

I guess that's just my state of mind right now, having gone through a lot in the past few weeks, not to mention kickstarting a few new films, and my THAC project that I've overblown into something 10+ minutes! mini/lol

Yes yes yes!

I listen to The Beatles, especially A Day in the Life, Love is All You Need, Happiness is a Warm gun and more.  When I animate I listen to Magical Mystery Tour because it's wacky and weird (in a good way), just like making films with Lego bricks.  Wacky and weird.

I also as you can see by my profile picture am a fan of Bob Dylan.  I prefer the early songs, like most.  Right now I find myself listening to Like A Rolling Stone, Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35, and Positively 4th Street.

Occasionally Sam Cooke has a decent song or two that gets me motivated.

The Beatles are probably my favorite band of all time, so yeah I jam to them occasionally. mini/smile

My brother considers Buddy Holly to be the first punk band.  And ha has many valid points.

I could listen to Devo day and night.

Pretty sure there's been several other threads like this, but I might as well post my inspirations.

Lately I've been listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, which is fantastic if you want to get work done.  Also, the soundtrack for The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly lives up to the first part of its title, particularly these two tracks.  (I should probably actually watch that film some time.)

Person of Interest has an amazing soundtrack too, especially Listening With a Million Ears, although the entire playlist is worth listening to.

Lately I've been inspired by this song also.  It would fit spectacularly with a Brickfilm I'm planning.

Re: Music That Inspires You

A lot of people are seeming to opt for orchestral music, which is interesting.

I usually do prefer instrumental music when I'm writing, otherwise, I'll get the lyrics stuck in my head, and will accidentally type them down instead. mini/tongue

Re: Music That Inspires You

I'm the same with writing. I jam to the Beatles and buddy holly constantly, I just didn't put them down in my list.
