Topic: TODAY is Patriots' Day

Hello.  Today is the anniversary of two terrorist attacks on American soil: 911/2001 and 911/2012.  (The British equivalent of Patriot's day is July 7th.)  Just a reminder to fly your flags at half-mast today to remember the victims.

This community is the closest thing I have to a social network, so I wanted to share a project with you that I revise annually, but now that I have a box.com archive site, can actually share a file of this size with everyone.

The above URL is a 9/11 desktop memorial that honors the victims.  It's really come a long way from a list of scrolling names on a backdrop of the lights shining up where the two towers once stood.  The required font is included in the .zip file.  Install it if you don't have the font; otherwise, the words won't scroll correctly.  I will be running this all day as I do every year, and wish to share it to everyone.  I'd say, "Happy Patriots' Day", but it's not really appropriate.  Please remember the victims of 9/11, whether or not you download the program.

I am wearing the LEGO US flag from my celebration film on my shirt.

Re: TODAY is Patriots' Day

How about 9/11/1973?

Britain doesn't have a 'Patriots day'.

Re: TODAY is Patriots' Day

RP Hoogle, you are right.  "Equivalent" is the wrong word.  But 7 July is a day the UK uses to remember their 49 victims.  By the way, the memorial app has a background selection button; one of those buttons is a Lego rendition of the famous "Raising of the Flag" photo.  I have this scrolling on my desktop as I do every 9/11, and for those who do download this, I'd like your comments and suggestions to improving it.  It's a work in progress.

In fairness, I live in the US and 'Patriots day' is a term I'm unfamiliar with.

Re: TODAY is Patriots' Day

'Patriots Day' appears to be a civic holiday celebrating the battles of Lexington and Concord.  Calling 9/11 Patriots Day is simply inaccurate; it already exists in a different form.

Re: TODAY is Patriots' Day

Hey, everyone, I was wrong again!  I am not always right, so I looked it up.  The correct name of the holiday is PATRIOT DAY, not PATRIOTS' DAY.  In my defense, my own calendar had it named as "Patriots' Day"!

Returning to the topic, I worked hard on this and was hoping someone viewed it and was moved, and if anyone had suggestions on it.
