what are good software for
A) special effects
B) video editing
C)free
D)able to export
E)no big sign in the middle of screen
i've already seen that but none of those really have special effects
I don't think you can get free SFX programs. Your best bet would be to chroma key an effect on.
There's always Axogon or Blender. If you can be bothered to learn them.
What "special effects" are you looking for? I would say Wax DebugMode is a good program therefore...
well one to download with all that stuff listed above a trial would be fine

Rain can be done in sony vegas (i think?) theres a 30 day trial google it. If not then i cant help much.

For rain use sqirlz water reflections, for lightsabers use LSmaker, for muzzle flash just use a simple image editing program such as gimp, fire is a tricky one.
I believe fire can be done and WAX. I definitely know that you can put muzzle flashes and fire in Vegas. Just use the chroma key effect and turn the color to black.

Blender can do all the stuff you want (and more), but it takes a lot of work to get good at it.

Yes like that. Do you know of anything that would get the job done? Would WAX do it?
oh sorry i thout you said lighting the set.
I use Adobe After effects for stuff like that.
