Re: The Free Software List
Why would you possibly want to edit with those? Not to question the software God, though.

Well, that was more of a question of personal curiousity. I'm seeing how tooled up I can get my PowerMac before I finally upgrade to OSX, and as it is/was a server, it doesn't have many of the more consumer apps on it. And as Apple put them up for free, I thought this would be an appropriate place to post the question.
I found this a while ago: http://formatoz.com/ - Format Factory
All to MP4/3GP/MPG/AVI/WMV/FLV/SWF.
All to MP3/WMA/AMR/OGG/AAC/WAV.
All to JPG/BMP/PNG/TIF/ICO/GIF/TGA.
Rip DVD to video file , Rip Music CD to audio file.
MP4 files support iPod/iPhone/PSP/BlackBerry format.
Source files support RMVB.
It works, trust me.
I picture this becoming annoyingly overused...
- MSD, who is working on an advanced facial animation package but doesn't really have time to finish it anytime soon

Oh, cool, what Kind of software?
c++?
Mac, Linux and Windows-compatible?
Layers, x-sheets?
How to create/integreate phonemes? Will there be the mouth-animation separate or within the brick-clip?
Do you planning fx like blurring?
What kind of GUI you will use?
Is there just an screen-play?
If not, I will help you if I can
I believe Traverso is a free audio editor similar to Audacity, but has scrubbing. I didnt see it on the list under windows...?
Good find that man!
Thanks ash, but I actually got it with a book called "Get Animated" By Tim Maloney. Its good (especially for hand drawn animation) but basically all animation. I recommend it, and it comes with a disc with a bunch of free programs, including Traverso.
I do believe you may have misplaced it under 3d instead of audio.

*cough*
Fixed the placement of Traverso. It was only the Windows one that was in the wrong place. Dunno why I did that.
Forgot about format factory adding that now...
And I'll check out that glueface thing.
PH34R T3H NEW L0G0.
Also, I'm adding glueface.
Handbrake. Primarily a DVD ripper, but also a pretty good file converter.
Sorry to bump this, but I found a really great video converter for Windows (98/2000/Me/XP/95/2003) and it's totally free. Free Video Converter 1.0. It can convert the following formats: 3g2, 3gp, Asf, avi, dvd, flv, iPhone, iPod, MP4, Mpeg1, Mpeg2, Ps3, PSP, wmv and Zune. Vista/XP/2000 users can also download Free Video Converter 2.0 for more formats (it's at the bottom of the list).
Could it be added to the list?
I recently foud this:
http://www.pocketdivxencoder.net/EN_index.htm
this is a free video conversion and compression softawre, who seems quite powerful, and easy to use. I made a 26MB file out of a 250MB avi file, with an acceptable quality, in a short time.
ummm... glueface is a javascript file, so it can run on mac.
So it is. I'll fix that.
Anim8or runs perfectly under Vista, you just have to set it to XP Compatability Mode under Properties.
No, sorry. The free download is just a demo.
yes the only limit is that after like a few weeks it stops working, but you can simply reinstall it and i still works fine
Still not properly free though. It's a demo.
