So when you say "Your name" does that mean our username, or our actual whole name, first name, last name and all?

Your username is preferred.

There couldn't have been a better theme for me right.  I can't wait to try out my idea.

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

Does it count as touching if I take the shot from the front, even though there's really a gap between the two colours? Here's a quick example I did up of the situation in LDD. The image would be taken from front on so it looks like it was touching, but it really isn't as seen in the second image.

EDIT: Is there a PNG logo available for Brick Warriors with a transparent background?

Putting a logo in the credits for 3 seconds isn't going to harm the artistic integrity of your film.

You're right, it's even worse - it harms the artistic integrity of the artist him/herself!

BRAWL (and THAC, for that matter) are prestigious contests. Any animators worth their salt are not motivated by prizes when they consider whether or not to enter BRAWL or THAC. Using this prestigious contest to compel an animator who eschews any form of advertising or promotion to, all of a sudden, do the very thing they find distasteful, is patently unfair; especially when no such requirement was indicated in the announcement of BRAWL 2014. True; many other contests have resorted to this promotional ploy but, after a cursory review of past threads, no such promotional requirements were required for BRAWL 13, 12, 11 or 09.

An artist puts their name on an entire film, not just what takes place between the opening and closing credits.

Ugh, just drop it. This argument has been long forgotten. Just enjoy the contest.

Then use the BRAWL contest as inspiration for a film, but don't include the Brick Warriors logo in it, and don't enter.

The point of this contest is to get people animating, whether or not they actually enter the contest in question is a whole other matter. Use this time to animate something, or not - that's your own decision. No one's forcing you to advertise for Brick Warriors, and, no one's forcing you to enter this contest.

If you'd like to place, or even have the chance to win, add the logo. If not, then you have no reason to enter. Make films for yourself, and for others. Entertain, don't complain.

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

The rule about including a notice regarding the contest sponsorship in your credits should have been included in the original announcement, yes. In principle I agree that it's problematic that this wasn't made clear upfront.

It is sometimes difficult to find sponsors for contests like these, and I imagine it was a requirement for these particular sponsors. There are a lot of things to consider when writing up announcements for a contest, and sometimes what doesn't seem like a big deal to the contest runner is a bigger issue to some of the entrants, that's understandable.

Nevertheless, I'm consistently disappointed by this community's behavior when there are contests. People volunteer to run contests on this site out of a desire to contribute, do something fun for other people, and even goes to the trouble of getting a sponsor to provide prizes, and all some of you can do is complain. Nobody running any contest owes you anything.

Anyhow, I'm excited to see what comes of this contest, though unfortunately I don't have the time or equipment at hand to make an entry myself. Good look to everybody participating!

OK, all said and done, can we get back to the important questions?

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

Pah! I'm fine with the sponsorship thing. I sold out all my artistic integrity years ago...

(I'm joking. I've done several contests before where its been required to stick a logo in the closing credits. Like Nathan, I'm shocked it's getting this much backlash.)

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

The guys are giving away $75 worth of stuff, I think that easily justifies the rule. I for one am grateful for the generosity of the folks at Brickwarriors.  Would it really hurt to have something like this in your credits...?

Anyways, I'm looking forward to entering this. I have attempted BRAWL before, but never succeeded. Hopefully I'll make it this time!

Oh and it's good to see you Muzapoppa, hope you'll stick around to see the entries mini/smile

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

Finally came up with a good story idea after many hours of utter pain!

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

Whoa, whoa, was I de-modded for not liking putting the logo there?  I'm sorry, guys!  I said I would put it in. mini/sad

Is it okay to have a red helmet with a trans-neon-orange visor?

Re: BRAWL 2014 IS OVER!

That should be, trans orange is a variant of orange, and all variants work so long as they fall within the family of orange.  And red is red.  Seems like a good way to have the mod.

Also am I still allowed in the contest?  I still really want to enter.

There should be nothing stopping you from entering. As long as you follow the rules.

I see no reason why not, there are no reasonable grounds for disallowing you from entering.

didn't see Harbourlight's post, apologies for this pointless post

The Rules wrote:

This year's color mod will be an Orange LEGO piece connected to a Red LEGO piece. The regulations are as follows:
1. The orange and red pieces must be LEGO or a similar make and must be touching, if not connected.
2. Any pieces may be used (including minifigures), so long as they are the correct colors.
[dark/light orange is acceptable as a variant for orange, the same goes for red]

So technically, this doesn't count, sorry. Also, I do not have the .png file, only the .jpeg.

Yes, this works as a MOD element; translucent parts count.
