Re: How would a collaborative brick project shape up over the net?

I would love to get involved in anyway I could! If I'm needed to, put me down as an animator please!

Re: How would a collaborative brick project shape up over the net?

I think that this is a great idea, a feature film created by the members of the brickfilming community. Of course, it will take dedication and time, but I believe that it would pay off in the end. I am completely willing to do anything to help with this, and I hope there are others as willing as me.
@Togfox
I'm sure if you snooped around you could find someone willing to do it, or at lease find some tutorial.

We need to get whoever did the facial animation in this film in on this project.

I think that would be Nick Durron.

Is anyone good at photoshop or similar that can make two or three posters when the time is right?  This person would choose from a selection of stills (or we manufacture one), and awesome text, and make a sweet looking image in photoshop that can be used in sigs, twitter, facebook or just on this forum.  mini/smile

I don't use Photoshop, but I use Gimp and/or Illustrator. I'd be able to design something easily enough. I think we'd need to look out for a distributor to get the word out there.

Well I would consider myself a relatively proficient Photoshopper, and I have the most up-to-date edition of it (Creative Cloud), but I've only ever made one actual movie-style poster. I can certainly give something a try, when the time is right.

I'd think Illustrator would be best for a movie poster, since it's vector based and could be made to fit any size we wanted. That's assuming a movie we made would be made so big that we decided to do billboard advertisements.

Is Illustrator all that different? I have that too but I've never used it.

Toolset is virtually the same, but since Illustrator works in vector (ie point to point instead of pixels), you'd probably find yourself using different tools than you'd use in Photoshop. The biggest learning curve isn't the tools if you're used to Photoshop, but understanding what a vector image is.

Re: How would a collaborative brick project shape up over the net?

Does anyone have any ideas for a collaborative workspace?  Somewhere where people can post ideas and shorts and get feedback?

And no - Skype is not a workspace - its an instant messaging program.  Drop box can host files but not ideas.

I need somewhere where collaborators from different timezones can dump new stuff and check back on it a few days later to see if there is any feedback.  Ideas?

Is this still happening? And what kind of film are you making?

Re: How would a collaborative brick project shape up over the net?

Fact of the matter is, when you start a collaboration project every wants to be the animator.  mini/lol

Seriously but, i think most people dont find enough time for their own project let alone toil for weeks on someone elses project.

I do have abold and new idea that totally wont work:

How much fun would it be to have multiple animators across the net working on the same film.  By this i mean all the animators by the same mini-figs, divide up the scenes and animate their own scene with the same voice actor through the whole lot giving a level of seamlessness.

Some basic rules need to be agreed, like making the actors walk the same way, sets need to be common where that becomes important and attention to lighting will be important too.

This way you can have multiple animators producing a longer film with the same post and voice person stitching it all together.  Discuss.
