Fantastic Four hasn't been a particularly strong seller for a while. Sales spiked the month the series was rebooted, and then promptly dropped back to dismal levels in the months following. I wouldn't put it past Marvel to leverage the comics to hurt a film competitor, but the fate of the series was probably up for grabs regardless.

Marvel will finally have their way with the Avengers in the MCU if they get Spidey. He appears in the Avengers comics, so I wouldn't be surprised if Disney did something with him if and when they get the rights to him. It really depends if they want to pay Sony any royalties, or if they think a license deal would cut it for them.

As for the X-Men, it's the only other Marvel franchise that comes close to the MCU. Spidey didn't do so well because he can't really expand so far in his own universe. X-Men, and the Avengers are both teams that can have lots of spin-offs.

I don't see Fox giving up X-Men.

I want Fox to continue with X-Men because DoFP and First Class were extremely good, and The Wolverine was alright, so the series is going up in my books. Plus, I want to see what happens with Apocalypse. However, I don't want a Fantastic Four movie by Fox, since they said the two series would become one universe. Fantastic Four belong with Spider-man, if anything.

Back when The Avengers was being made, there were rumours that Sony and Marvel were going to do a deal of some sort to get Spider-man in the movie. Though the accuracy is debatable, those rumours weren't unfounded, and I think I read something by Fiege a while back that said he would still be open to the inclusion of Spider-man. If Sony have to co-finance with Disney/Marvel, that's fine by me. I think a Tony Stark/Peter Parker dynamic would be fantastic. In terms of continuity, the two film franchises would fit quite snugly (I won't get into that now, it's a whole new level or nerd and I have an exam in a few hours). BTW I really enjoyed Amazing Spider-man 2, despite its obvious faults.

As for Avengers crossing over with X-Men...I'm glad they're two separate film universes. Each one is just too big to include the other, and especially with X-Men, the independant development does the series wonders.

@Lech, the DC thing is a whole other story. Warner is floundering in the mud like a Magikarp because they refuse to take the comics as they are. Despite the popularity of ridiculous superheroes like Thor, Mystique and the upcoming Rocket Raccoon and Groot, DC thinks that a mainstream audience isn't ready for the likes of Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter. With Goyer writing, their films are just getting more and more superficial and hyperserious, and they're almost ashamed of the material that they have to work with. My hopes are now on Flash, that that and Constantine will be good. I'm less optimistic about Man of Steel II, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.

Mainly because Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are in the Avengers in several of the Marvel comics.

Wolverine is my second most favourite Marvel character next to Captain America. I think that he's great on the movies, Hugh does a great job acting him.

Joking aside, I feel the same way, at least to a degree.  The mainstream film world is so saturated with superhero movies that no ones taking the time to make anything else; and it feels like my favorite type of movie, single, stand alone new IP films with no attachment to prequels, sequels, and other forms of media, are few and far between these days.

I personally love these leaked emails. It's like something from The Thick Of It, and I now really want to see someone make a TV-show similar to The Office - only called 'The Studio' and it's a fake-documentary about film executives. I'm sure that in a few decades time people will hail it as a comedic masterpiece that captures the fall of the hollywood blockbuster perfectly.
